This is supposed to be one of, if not the biggest Australian TV awards. No wonder Scotty ****in Cam won with that competition.

I've heard of one of those people and the winner isn't the one. The only one I've heard of I only remember because she has such a silly name.

Haven't heard of Scotty 'just an ozzie tradie m8' Cam? He's on at 7 o'block weeknights!

People who watch free to air TV need to be wheeled away to concentration camps.

My mother is a huge Big Bang Theory fan - I don't think she realises that outside of Australian FTA, TV is infinitely better.

Carrie Bickmore. Cheeses Rice!

Was drafted in on Rove to do the whole serious newsreader reading HILARIOUS fake news schtick that Australian TV shits out by the bucketload and somehow became one of Australia's sweethearts trademark symbol pat. pending.

Homemade packet vanilla custard is less bland.

Her hoity toity-ness gets my goat. That's why I enjoyed her interview with John Lydon so much

She's been led to believe she's ****ing amazing (her thoughts, not mine) and let's face it, how can you not when you're shortlisted for a gold logie.

Also, why are we talking about the mediocre world of Australian TV comedy, when we could be talking about the positively abominable world of Australian TV drama.

List of good Australian drama:

- That Blue Murder miniseries from the mid 90s.

That is all.
The Dismissal.

Mother and Son?

We lack depth but would be hard to stay in Australia if you were a talented writer I imagine.
Kingswood Country wasn't bad for a while. "Ted - somebody should lock you up and throw away the door."

Frontline was awesome
The Hollowmen was alright
Utopia was awful
Grass Roots (2000-2003, ABC) was very well written and acted. Sort of 'The Thick Of It' at local council level.
The Games (1998-2000) was remarkable but strongly linked to the Sydney Olympics. Once they were pretty well flawlessly successful the joke was diluted.

The Dismissal.

All those Kennedy-Miller mini-series were great. Back when Rupert owned Ten and needed content. Gave Byron and Dr. George total freedom to make anything "as long as it's bold."

[We] sit down with the network executives and in ten minute tell them what we want to do. They don`t really care what it's about. They say "yes." They have no input on the script or cast, don't view dailies, don't see a rough cut. Two years later, we say "here it is." - Dr. George Miller, 1988.

But at one point, with blockbuster budgets (for Australian TV) spiraling, Ten execs wanted to pull these upstarts into line. So Miller called on Rupert to intervene. He told the execs to piss off.

A million things can (and usually do) go wrong at any stage of development and production. The whole process is fraught with danger from the get-go. It can fall over at any second. Or it just dies quietly. Sometimes that can even be a huge relief.

These days it's a minor miracle to get anything green lit never mind make something that doesn't totally suck balls...

I recently watched all 6 seasons of Hogan Heroes again(my avatar strongly suggested I do so), and could have watched a seventh. I never tire of that show and I think of it as timeless. There is something about the whole nazi authority thing that reflects well with comedy...probably why the Hitler memes have done so well. I think that is how I judge shows, by how they sit watching them outside their production era. Hogans Heroes was made in the 60's, I can watch it today. I have some Get Smart episodes...also from the same era...can't watch now even though I loved the show when I was a kid. Fawlty Towers...'70's era...can and do watch today, can't think of any other '70's comedy I would like to watch. Blackadder, 80's era...love watching anytime. Married With Children? Same era, could not watch after initial viewing

Or how about...

DARE ANYONE TO WATCH THE WHOLE EP!!!

Find the ep that had Natalie Imbruglia in her absolute prime in it, and I'll watch that one.

Except for the fact the entire format and concept was ripped off from The Larry Sanders Show.

Larry Sanders was a send up of the late night talk shows; Frontline takes the knife to (so-called) current affairs shows - more like Drop The Dead Donkey.

I'm aware of that. The creators of Frontline basically saw Larry Sanders and said "let's do exactly that but base it around a current affairs show instead of a late night talk show".
