The far right bulshit posted on Facebook is the clearest example of this. It's funny how the right always like to use images out of context and complete lies about statistics. You'd think they were using these things to cover something, because they aren't racist...they told me so.

My fave is seeing pro gun people argue after a shooting.

They always say hilarious stuff like if you take the guns away from citizens then there will be more crime becaus the criminals will be armed and the citizens won't be able to defend themselves.... Despite no armed citizen ever actually stopping a shooting , and there being no correlation to places with high concentrations of guns and less crime.. Ever .

And then my personal face when talks about gun control... But the criminals can still get guns ..

Which of course is idiotic when you consider that every one of these mass shootings has been perpetrated by some ordinary joe blow son of a local accountant or welder or local butcher. It's not like any of these guys had mafia connections they could have gone to for weapons lol

And then there is the evil government trying to Un-arm them so they can over-run the people and control them big brother style. Which is just about as stupid as you can get. The gov doesn't know how you are , and they don't care , just pay you taxes and don't shoot people is about all they give a shit about. And the fact that some collection of rifles is gonna stop what these hicks then boast is the most advanced military in the world ?

Honestly. They should just be honest and say "yes I don't like people from xx, but here is why." Rather than saying "I'm not racist but..."

Atleast be honest about how you feel and support it with evidence be that personal or statistical that arent from european defence league facebook pages.

The truth is if they admit they have any prejudices, jobs can be lost. Predjudice is a natural thing and some people genuinely have bad experiences and see bad things perpetrated by certain groups and form an opinion based on it. I just cant hack the old "i got ripped off by an indian taxi driver once. They must all be criminals." and "muslims are bad because 9/11". Yes it's evidence but its very difficult to damn all of them, just as much as it's difficult to sort the good eggs from the bad in any race/shape/form.

I used to sprout a shitload of bile from all angles of the political spectrum, mainly the right. However I've discovered I'm really not as extreme as I thought I was, having seen some of the shit that goes around these days. That said, both sides of the spectrum are bad. Playing facebook politics is a game for fools and miscreants. It's not worth anyones time. Just vote for whoever you wish to vote for and stop criticising those who disagree with you, as is their right. Debate is good, trash talking is bad. Both sides do it.

See, this shit actually irritates me. If I wanna **** a whole bunch of people up, I don't need a gun. Make a home made bomb, a clandestine drug lab, start slashing random people with a knife like Jack the Ripper...there are countless ways to become a menace to society without needing to resort to the piss easy bitch way of pulling a trigger. Of course, most of the time shootings are at places where people are there most defenceless - schools, theatres, churches.

The fact is, nothing you can police will stop someone who is sufficiently motivated enough killing you. Some guy could nut out right now and drive straight through Rundle Mall at high speed, slamming into pedestrians and whoever is unfortunate enough to be in his way. As you said, most shootings are by normal every day people. So while your premise has merit, it's just the illusion of safety in a society where you've got no idea what is going to happen next.

That's probably why those who advocate guns want them so badly. It's like a security blanket of control in a world of chaos.
