I was barracking for Queensland..............because Fourex Bitter XXXX ( not that gold shite ). My old man ( hes no longer a south aussie ) Cairns, **** the crocks are brutal and big up there. Ive almost tongue kissed one. And finally the weather, its gorgeous, it allows you to drink four XXXX bitter with your old man.

What a grand final that was. The best RL one of the 30 or so I have watched.

Had everything. The first 20 minutes the pace and the hits were brutal. I'd like to see how many tackles Brisbane did inside their 20m in the last 15 minutes. Their defence was brilliant. Thurston tried to do everything he could to win that but just didnt get it done. Then that great run by Morgan to hold on to the ball and then get that release off with 2 seconds to go. Then the drama of the kick, the knock on in extra time, thatt crunching tackle on Thurston after the scum - pretty sure it was that hit that split up his eye and then the drop goal, what great drama.

Thurston is the best footballer of any code playing in Oz at the moment or of any Aussie playing abroad across all 6 football codes. The bloke is a genius and no wonder he has 4 Dally M medals.

I was waiting for Roy and HG to get stuck into Backdoor Benny Elias at some point - its tradition and it took until the overhead shot replay of Thurston's field goal 5 minutes after the end when Roy said - That's how you kick a field goal in extra time Benny Elias -referring back to the 1989 GF and the field goal attempt that hit the cross bar by Elias.

I wasn't going to watch it live, I was just going to download the match afterwards as I usually do when I want to watch NRL, but my girlfriend had to get up at 5am to go to work (she's doing a shift in the medical staff at the BMX Cycling Test Event in Rio today) so I ended up waking up right at the time the game was about to start. I found a decent stream and watched it to the end. It was worth it!

It was such a good game, none of the teams deserved to lose, but I was cheering for the Cowboys mainly because of JT

He copped two big hits at the end there. Then, on that last play, he breaks one tackle and fends off another to set up the match-saving try. Absolute freak.

Someone had to drop a variation on the ol' movie scripts line. Nah, Gordo, no-one could write an ending like that. Not even Paddy Chayefsky, Ernest Lehman and Robert Towne combined...

THanks I'll take a look at it. I rarely go outside the Port Adelaide section of the forum so I don't think I've seen that one before. I'm aware that Liverpool have quite a lot of fans in Australia though, I've always seen many Aussies in LFC forums

As for the Grand Final, it was an absolutely brilliant end to the game... just not better than this:

I was curious if in Brazil or South America you have your own version of ESPN which might have taken the game. The game was going live to over 100 countries.

What did you do for the AFL GF? Use your live pass that comes with the PAFC International membership??

Now i don't know anything about rugby league but the way the Dallas Cowboys broke deuce to slam dunk that last score point over the Denver Broncos was pretty impressive.
