If Holden wants a solution to their money problems, put this into production.

The Coupe 60 should have been put in to production instead of the half baked 2 door Commodore that was the new Monaro.

The Sinful Nuns of St Valentine just started on sbs. Interesting so far.

"An Italian epic in which a demented Mother Superior and a rabid collection of mentally disturbed and sex-crazed sisters lose their habits and morals with equal gusto."

Sounds like standard SBS Friday night fare :thumbsu:

I like this thread it lets me know who I'd actually enjoy having a beer with irl..

I hate missing out on topics of discussions as they happen so here are my quick 2c on the recent topics.

- Star Wars: didn't mind parts of TPM, Ray park as Maul was awesome.

- Video games: Dont play any modern games, I only really play AoE2 very occasionally as a bit of a throwback.

- Renewables: Just get it done, we should be leaders in this field and exporting our knowledge and innovation, not falling behind.

- Defence: Don't always believe what the press/opposition leaders tell you about major defence projects and delays. There is a lot of fat and waste but there is a whole other political side of it that makes it hard to meet targets. A lot of innovation and technology has come from Defence research.

- Refugees: My parents and most of my family came to Australia as refugees via a UN initiative in 1980 post-Vietnam war so I'm all for Australia helping refugees out.

Heres a recent example of refugee relocation and its benefit to the local community done by AMES and Deloitte. (https://www.ames.net.au/files/file/Research/19933 AMES Nhill Report LR.pdf)

- We should tax big companies properly for doing business here in Australia, like Apple, Google, Ikea, mining/oil companies etc. Use that money to support the local "battlers".

Wtf it's pretty simple we shouldn't be interfering in foreign countries with an armed force which only wreaks havoc on the local populace
and no one is going to invade us because If it reaches that point it will be nuclear if we want to help in world aid create a service that can provide medical help on the ground or a thousand other things look I'm out and I have to end this crazy rant
but I can not advocate violence in any way shape or form and I view the armed forces as an archaic service that no longer serves a viable purpose to this country or at all the world

I wish I could live in a magical world of rainbows and unicorns....
Wouldn't you consider the fact that a military force is required as a deterrent as a fairly useful purpose.
Let's stand down our armed forces and see how long until someone decides they wouldn't mind access to our natural resources and maybe have some space for their expanding populations.
Add in the other factors that others have mentioned and I'd suggest the military are pretty much essential.
You might also want to consider quite a few people fought and died so you have the freedom to express your somewhat unusual opinions.

We are safe BECAUSE we are good allies. We have a nuclear deterrent BECAUSE we back America.
We have a fantastic lifestyle BECAUSE we can access cheap resources thanks,to dubious foreign policy. We can project our lifestyle BECAUSE....well you get the idea.

wish i lived near a nunnery
I was taught by nuns until Grade 6. If I had started watching 'The Sinful Nuns of St Valentine' I'd probably have automatically grabbed an exercise book and begun practicing my cursive. Strong operant conditioning back in the day.

You know what really grinds my gears, these modern pay-to-play / in-app purchase games out these days.

They've taken gaming to the masses as they are simple and easy, but at the same time they've destroyed strategy gaming for those who are wanting a true real time strategy game that doesn't take months to play and/or a ridiculous number of money to excel at.

Rant over.

Civilization 4 seems to me to have been the last great strategy game.
