Don't have time for that. What is Fallout 4? Shooter/RPG/.. Single player/multi player?
Shooter-RPG hybrid. You don't need to play any of the previous titles.
Fallout 1 and 2 are incredibly dated and are probably only fun these days due to nostalgia value.
Fallout 3 is pretty great, but you might as well just play Fallout 4.
Huge open world, lot's of fun, plenty of replayability.

So it's just Skyrim with guns. :thumbsu:

But i suppose if someone doesn't know what Fallout is, i doubt they would know about Skyrim.
Is that when you bend someone over in the airplane toilet and..... never mind.

Let's be real here for a second. Fallout 1 and 2 are much, much better games than any of the subsequent titles, unless you really really need modern graphics. It's not even close
Yeah, nah.
They were both great games at the time, but Fallout 3 was easily better.
That's like saying an FJ Holden is better than a current model. It may have that "classic" factor but it's certainly not a better car.

Oh boy

Fwiw i think fallout 3 isn't that great but New Vegas is probably my favourite game ever

Yeah couldn't really get in to NV. Don't know why exactly, but I know the increased health (or decreased damage of weapons) really shat me. 10 shotgun shells to the face and enemies would still be walking around.

It's more like how an 1996 Rolls Royce is a better car than a 2011 Nissan Tiida

I like the analogy, but still have to disagree.
I played through F2 again only a year or so ago, and while it was still fun I was left quite frustrated at the simplicity and lack of options a lot of the time.

This is only because you have now experienced modern games and their plethora of options. If you cast your mind back to when fallout first came out you will realise just how groundbreaking fallout was. They were doing things that had never been done before. Fallout 3 though awesome, is simply rehashing so many other RPGs before it with new skins and a new story. Comparing the greatness between them is difficult, both great games but only one of them was groundbreaking at the time of release.

I see what you're saying, and I do agree that it had the edge in being groundbreaking, but even Fallout 1 was copying a similar style to Diablo 1 and Heroes of Might and Magic. So I don't think you can say it's better purely on 'groundbreaking' terms

This is like when people say Half Life 2 is ssOooo good because it brought to the table elements that are now commonplace in video games. But it's a pretty lacklustre game tbh.

Though i have no opinion on old Fallouts, I haven't played them for more than 15 mins

i never understood the hype around fallout 3, just another modern action game that holds your hand the whole way through.. all these mainstream blockbuster action games are ridiculously easy. even have matrix bullet modes so you can't miss your first shot. playing through metal gear solid 1 on extreme, can't even pass the second area, that is a proper hard video game

I agree completely, but it's all in the eye of the beholder. Games are enjoyed and appreciated differently from person to person, that's what makes them so unique. Everyone plays in their own way. Arguing about which of them is best is difficult to do any everyone has their reasons.

Except for ashes cricket 2013. May god have mercy on us all for ever having created such an atrocity.

Ever tried the witcher on maximum difficulty? Or Dark Souls? Or even Fallout in the stupid survival modes?

Every game has an insane difficulty for people who enjoy their games in that fashion.
