I've come to accept that fireworks are an inevitable part of life, so on this New Year's Eve I have but one message - If you're going out please leave your dogs inside the house. And if you absolutely must leave them outside please make sure the yard is secure. Dogs hate fireworks. It freaks them out, they try to run, and sometimes they get hit by cars. Please look after your little rascals tonight. Peace out.

Thankfully our elderly dogs are both deaf as posts these days, but a few years ago when they could hear a ladybird queefing on a lucky gumnut five streets away nights like this would provide nothing but dread.

Thunderstorms were bad enough, but intermittent fireworks from sundown to 3am would result in canine anxiety on a level that makes you wonder how neither of them had a cardiac arrest, such was their inconsolable shaking fear.

Jason-Pierre Paul certainly got what he deserved, hopefully a few more can join him in the, "what happened to my hand? well..." stakes.

The Sportsbet site is updated now, and he's gone from not listed at all to now being priced at $4.00..ahead of Travis Boak at $4.50
