It was a late 70s show, so there's a story there about how you even got to see it. I don't doubt you did but someone must have guided you to their secret stash of videos or something. Surprisingly for such a popular show I don't think it got repeated much.

I watched it as a kid in the late 70's, but I watched it with my kids in the late '90's too. Re-runs

Ah hungover at the hairdressers- what a day to be half alive
And it's a girl's hairdressers too so it will go on and on horribly for hours and cost as much as a PAFC Gold Membership. I had my hair cut the other day, 27 seconds and the change in my pocket.

That's a 60s show and supposedly the wedge for the introduction of Japanese stuff, still very soon after WW11. Also big animated Japanese hits of their day Marine Boy, Space Ace, and Kimba the White Lion. Non-animated big Japanese hits The Samurai*, and to a lesser degree Phantom Agents.

* Not Shintaro as I originally put, that was the hero. Thanks Prison bar Pete

This and your 'that's not Monkey' hullabaloo makes me think you're the oldest hipster in existence.

"I liked all that stuff before it was cool"

Worth mentioning for those who don't know that Ken M is a humorous troll/stirrer who is really good at revving people up for a long time about stuff. Often takes ages before they realise he is a self parodier in the vein of pre-talk show Stephen Colbert.

Fireball XL5, Stingray, Thunderbirds - each one a step forward in puppetry for TV.

This was the only thing that made me miss living in Elizabeth - our family moved to Woomera, where there was no television at all until 1973, when we got the ABC.

Subtle. I think. Or just very dumb. I took a look at the Dr. Rand Paul Twitter feed and can't decide if it's a parody one or not.

In 1991 7 laps to go, Senna's gearbox gets jammed and only has 6th gear, he wants to stop, but has never won a home Brazilian Grand Prix, so drives on and wins. His muscles are crammed up at the end and struggles to take his hands of the steering wheel, get out of the car and even lift the trophy. Shear genius!

Looks like we need a nostalgia thread away from here - then I can avoid facing the fact I wasted too many hours in my youth (actually, nothing's changed it would appear). Better do some gardening I suppose.

Time enjoyed is not time wasted.
