A mate had a great tshirt back in the day.

The aussie flag as it currently is minus the Union Jack with the words.

Jack Off written underneath.

The red one is the army.

The white (ensign) is the navy.

The powder blue the RAAF.

The "red one" has never been our national flag as far as I know.
There was no national flag at all before 1953, when Menzies legislated the blue one as the national flag.

Before that, the red one was the most commonly used flag by the general population and could thus be described as the de facto national flag.

Simplest and most Aussie solution in my mind, just **** off the Union Jack and you're done. It might be a missed opportunity for a good flag, cut still solves the main issue.

The red flag was the only one civilians could fly at one stage.
It is NOT the army flag, the army are the custodians of the national flag....whatever that may be.

I liked that snazzy red, white and black flag with that black symbol that has the four arms.
Colour in the white bit, stick a yellow hammer and sickLe in the top corner instead of the four arms and we might be on to something.

Why do our teams keep wearing blue then?
Which ones? Only thing comes to mind is secondary strips like this

tmp_14903-Rogic_and_Milligan_in_Socceroos_News_Away_native_600-1375300325.jpg Australian attire is still very much dominated by green and gold. If not our uniforms, the crowd will be.

Australian international rules team jerseys, and the opening ceremony kit for Beijing Olympics are two that spring to mind. Its far from uncommon.
I think that looks better than just green and gold...
Its because green and gold is shit.

Green and gold is OK, gold and green is awful.

That middle South African dude has a very large head.
Green and gold aren't a great combo but I'm used to it and happy for it to stay as team colours. For the flag, would have to an excellent design to work. As Dylan said, check out the flag debate on FJGD for some interesting ideas.

Lol so our uniforms in some made up once a year exhibition sport and our Olympics pyjamas. That's as uncommon as it gets.

Drank so much booze on the weekend I thought it would be a good idea to have a few smokes for the first time in years.

What a filthy disgusting habit. Instantly regretted it. How anybody could get addicted to that, I'll never understand.

Nonetheless, the demonisation of smokers in Australia is like something from the third Reich.
