Not leaving a lot of options then about being inclusive.

You don't have to include elements from indigenous culture into the flag. I don't want to speak on behalf of them but I'm assuming any other flag will never have more meaning than the one they have right now, same with Torres Strait Islanders and their flag.

The main thing is getting rid of the Union Jack.

Who precisely does getting rid of the Union Jack placate? And why is that more important than a flag inclusive of Aboriginal culture?

I'd be very happy to have some sort of recognition of indigenous people in our flag if it could be represented well.

The Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander flags themselves are their own thing though and what they represent is very important and shouldn't really be muddied by being shoehorned into an Australian flag, IMO. I could be way off base with what Indigenous people want though.

The Union Jack is an issue because we're not a colony, we've been a country in our own right for 115 years and, probably most importantly, a flag change is likely to accompany a move to a republic, making the Union Jack suddenly very out of place.

Don't know. I've seen them with Hook before though. People tell me it will be like seeing the Pixies without Kim Deal but I disagree. Kim's voice added so much to the Pixies.

I saw Peter Hook & The Light last year. They were very good. I think he's split from the others in NO and they've divvied up the catalogue for their various shows. Hook tends to do the darker atmospheric stuff. Sumner was always the pop princess.

That being said, looks like I'm heading to Sydney town in June.
