I have an interesting coffee story.

I went to breakfast with a group of friends including my wife, my wife is my friend too, I like her, she's a good friend.
Needs more cocaine and strippers.

Posted this on my FB but mad enough for a repost here. I had an interesting morning.

A holden statesman driver wrapped himself around the tree out the front this morning at 3:30am. Took an hour and a half to free him from the wreckage. Two fire engines, two cop cars, an ambulance. Took the hit on the drivers side and the car was bent into a C shape. Lots of sawing, banging and crunching. Guy was screaming "******* get me out!"

We are extremely lucky not to have been killed. Had he aimed a metre more to the left he would have been ontop of us.

I believe he was being chased by police and lost control as the crash happened and it was only undercover police there with him for a good ten minutes. Took the ambulance and fireys a long long time to arrive. The police were shining lights on him and saying "stay awake mate, stay with us big fella."

He looked very pale, but looked okay when they got him out. No obvious trauma. The fireys cut off the passenger side doors and cut out the centre column, removed the passenger seats and centre console and laid his seat back and slid him onto the stretcher before putting him on the gurney. Ambos had him on a drip etc. the whole time.

There is very little reason a healthy looking 30ish male would manage to wrap around a tree on a dead straight 50k/h suburban road aside from *******tery. I hope you haven't caused your loved ones too much pain you total fool.
Disappointing. He took the first steps to a Darwin Award, but couldn't go the final yard for himself (and society).

never thought I would agree with Mark Bickley but I did tonight - deathly silence from the Crows over the favourable 21 to 9 free kick count..

Another disappointing night at football training, another good young umpire with a good temperament ready to quit because of the deplorable and backwards attitudes by the peanut gallery which our code thrives on.

People wonder why umpires are campaigners, it's because you have to be. It isn't an environment for good blokes. It requires an extraordinary level of personal detachment from the job, and thats just for a country bumpkin league.

Agreed.

Went to an under 12's game recently and the umpire was clearly a kid warming up for his under 16's or under 18's game. Even at that level parents from the boundary line were abusing the umpire.

I've never seen an umpire reverse a decision and without umpires we don't have a game.

To follow up on the post from the DBJ thread, the coach who vilified the homosexual umpire was let off, on the defense of "nobody can prove I said it" despite being reported by 3 umpires.

The difference here is that even in Adelaide, you step into a basic coffee place and you'll get a reasonably good coffee.

What does this even mean m8? I'm no coffee aficionado by any stretch, but the very idea that Adelaide would or should lack in its standard of coffee is patently stupid. I have drunk the stuff in plenty of different places and the best tasting one I've ever had was in Adelaide. Check out Seafaring Fool in Grenfell Street. It's at the bottom of the stairs going up to JR's opposite the IBIS Hotel.

Worded poorly. It was only meant in the context that the discussion was around Melbourne being 'coffee central'.
I'm certainly not in the "Adelaide is shit for coffee' camp.

1.2 million people by any world standard is a big city. The whole US super city thing blurs people's perspective a bit. Adelaide also possibly cops the "country town" thing a bit due (currently) to the lack of a freeway system and decent rail network.

Don't forget the teeny weeny excuse for a cityscape, I almost think that's the main thing.

Yea I think we need a few hideous gigantic glass tower type things to get in on the modern western uber great city scene.

Yeah, one iconic tall building would be cool. Los Angeles went from a very bland, mundane skyline up until the late 1980's to a pretty dynamic one in a short period of time.

A lot of the great and famous cities of Europe don't have a tall skyline.
