I feel sorry for the bloke if he has indeed been wronged, but there's no good reason for anyone to have two things clipped to their belt like the taxi driver in the Dumont case.

Remember when, whatever your political leanings, the office of POTUS was a respected institution that was above the wild rumours, lies and conspiracy theories of whackjobs and loontubes?

Now the way is clear for freaks like Alex Jones and any moron with a strong social media profile to become a populist president.

All you have to do is talk endless easily refutable shit, decry any and all corrections as 'media bias' and promise to do a bunch of wild shit that is impossible to do.

Awesome.

I find this whole dishonest media, fake news, twitter posts, no interviews, no truth strategy incredibly disturbing. Ominous.

Basically the equation is simple.

Right wing - right wing source is truth and left wing is fake
Left wing - left wing source is truth and right wing is fake

The truth is probably somewhere in between, but we'll never get it.

So why is there no outrage when Mexico wants to build a wall on it's southern border?

There's also a stark difference between bias and outright falsehood.

The outlets that Trump decries as 'fake news' may report evidential fact with a liberal bias, but that doesn't make the evidential fact wrong.

Someone subjectively editorialising with a liberal (or conservative) bias may be resoundingly ignored - or targeted with a bunch of angry tweets.

Man dies, Muslim man responsible (right) vs. Man dies (left)

Same outcome, different reporting style, one to push an agenda while reporting the fact. The other combating the agenda of the other by reporting slightly differently. So I see what you are saying.

The article written by the right would have people asking "why does it matter if he's muslim, you may get innocent muslims targetted by doing this." while the other would get attacked for "protecting muslims".

When really, the central point is a man died.

This is the most superficial, meaningless analysis yet from the Portaloo

It's not that. Part of the reason we're in this position is that they're all bastards.

The conditions seem to exist, and to be being created, for something incredibly nasty.

It really isn't. This is the black and white of how many (who knows how many) see it. A leftist resource is immediately discredited by a right voter, and a right resource is discredited by the left. It doesn't make either party correct or truthful in either case but that's the way it often is.

That's the thing right. All outlets will push or word something to support an agenda (either loosely or entirely based on a central fact) and this drives wedges up groups more than ever before since there are so many outlets these days including the bizarre alternative news sources such as alex jones for example who just don't use facts at all but report them as such by using generalizations and cherry picking.
