Everyone has to remember this is a reality show.
If they wanted the best footballers they would have got all the Barlow types from the State Leagues and made a documentary about them, few games at their clubs, the journey to the draft camp maybe, up until draft day. It would be good (think Pumping Iron but with Barlow)
But this isn't that, they've purposefully chosen players below even that level so that it can be about the drama and character and not so much about footballing ability.
Only one will get a spot on an AFl list so it doesn't really matter if Armitage went earlier than Johncock or whatever because there is only going to be one winner so they want to keep the interest high and dram high until that point when it will actually come down to - which one can play afl footy.
I'd say until we have a final three, keep expecting it to play by the book.
