Matty shouldn't have had to back down. Because the context of what he said hasn't changed. He still said what he said as a way of getting a point accross to the AFL. "The way things are going, it's going to get to the point where.....insert out of context quote".

This is the point that Demetriou seems to have entirely missed. Just because you say something is going to happen is not endorsing it or saying you agree with it.

Massive kneejerk overreaction to this by AD, totally misinterpreted and really poorly handled.

Even Thomas's comments in the first five minutes - asked Misfud if Rendell said it in a serious, demeaning way; Misfud laughed and said No Way!

Not on yet EC.

AFL can get ****ed; reinstate Rendell tomorrow.

And don't get me wrong, I am not happy at all about Rendell has been treated, but this is no way Trigg's fault. Andy D can lie all he want and make it sound serious, it is his job! Trigg had his hand forced, it is pretty clear there is no doubt there.

Quite simply this is the control head hunt by the AFL and our pussies at the AFC headquarters are so far AD's ass that their shoes are hanging out of it.

Matt Rendell has been very outspoken about the concessions that the have been given to AFL's pet projects in Gold Coast and GWS. He has been critical of the compensation formula many times and has famously declared that GWS will not win a game this year. Those things did not sit well with the dictatorial heads over at the AFL so in their eyes this was a perfect opportunity to remove Rendell from the AFL world.

I have been a paid up member of the AFC for a LONG time and have seen the club handle a lot of things in a disappointing manner but this is by far the most disappointing in my eyes. I am ashamed of the way my club has handled this. We are losing the integrity and its all due to us so hell bent on "protecting the brand". These are the same people that have ruined the brand over the last 2 seasons by backing in a coach who was on the path of destruction and in the process publicly abusing the livelihood of the club (the members) for daring to question Craig's methods and those running the show.

Rendell's comments as reported to not read well but when taken in context they are no where near as bad. People also realise they came from a bloke who for 35 years has a strong history of drafting aboriginal player. They same bloke who has been involved in various programs geared to assist the development of young aboriginal sportsman on and off the field.

This has clearly been a controlled head hunt by the AFL and my claub has bent over backwards once again.

Shame on you AFC! Shame on you!

Now I'd like Trigg to come out and tell us what AD really demanded of him. There is no way AD would have on one hand told radio journo that the bloke that did it should be looking for other employment and then just suggest to Trigg to have a chat with him. There is no doubt in my mind that we were told to get rid of him in no uncertain terms.

Rendell said the quote was incorrect to start with - wanted to front the media to explain it; Trigg said no.

Casual chat with Misfud - a 'mate' - having a chat about a variety of things; focus was partly on aboriginal kids as Rendell wants to educate himself to improve. Said he had concerns about the attrition rate of young aboriginal kids not making it - Misfud agreed.

Rendell said he had concerns they weren't as well prepared for AFL life due to a more relaxed, less structured upbringing - Misfud agreed, said aboriginal culture is like that.

Rendell said he had some ideas to try and help the situation - relayed the Riolo situation (who threw his interview because he refused to leave Melbourne); Riolo wanted to leave Melbourne when he was young - his Mum wouldn't let him come home.

Rendell offered a suggestion to Misfud that he use his aboriginal group get the best 30 u/16 aboriginal kids, offer them scholarships to Vic/SA schools where they get a good education and get into the developed/developing football youth development system (TAC Cup being the obvious one); and hopefully after 2 years those 30 players will be better prepared and ready for AFL life.

If you had 20 of those 30 make it, you'd be thrilled.

Misfud said good idea; Rendell said you need to do it now - not stuff around with it for 6 months - do it now before Clubs start having concerns about drafting kids who don't have a white parent.



It's an absolute joke that he's been treated like this.
