This whole episode of events really saddens me.

I really rate Rendell as a good natured human being, and you can clearly he made those comments with clearly a pure intention for a positive change to the game. You can see in the way he talked tonight that he was clearly passionate about the issue facing Aboriginal youngsters in the game, and all his points were completely true and valid to the point.

I know he has somewhat of a rash way of speaking, or he may seem forward at times, speaking his mind (almost too often), but it is EXTREMELY poor by the AFL to use Rendell as a scapegoat in this delicate situation.

I know most people on this board are disappointed at the club at the club, but we've been clearly strong-armed into the situation, and whilst it's happened to us before in the past, where we don't fight back, this was probably the only option Trigg really had.

I would have really loved to have seen Rendell have a chance to explain his comments in context before his 'resignation', but unfortunately it's too late.

Definitely a poor show by the AFL, and Demetriou. I'm quite sad to lose such a quality recruiter, person and presence at our club.

Wow what an interview. I take back what I said about Rendell after that. I hope he sues both the AFL and the AFC for damages after how he was treated.

Demetriou and Trigg both have a lot to answer for.

Sounds like Milera wasn't handled well by the club either.

Surprised no one mentioned this. Says that he told the club to give him 2 years as he came with baggage, the club agreed, but then obviously went against their word. That pissed me off a fair bit tbh.

And also, it doesn't seem like Rendell gave much of a **** about his career tbh, the only reason he stayed was because of the super draft. I know that doesn't mean much, but if this was just another plain draft, he would be at Port as an assistant now.

Had to work, can someone paraphrase for me. Although, having some experience with Aboriginal affairs I have a pretty good understanding of what went on. Certainly surprised to read that this incident actually occurred in January

Basically the one white parent quote was to used to say if the afl didn't do something about the aboriginal players dropping out then this is the path we will be going down. He didn't say it was a current policy or a future policy for the afc but more a warning to the afl?

When Vlad tells the world that the recruiter attributed to that quote needs to find another job it was obvious he would get his way.

No club would go against "City Hall" when they have that mentality.

It is Vlad who should resign.

Maybe Jason Misfaud could have explained the quote in the same context as well when telling his boss.

Time to resign Vlad - and donate your unearned bonuses to support programs for young aboriginal footballers.

**** the AFC and Trigg - you may have had Vlad pre-empt and force the decision on you but you have sacrificed your soul to satisfy Vlad shooting from the hips..... it was Vlad on radio that said that such person should find another job....... a kangaroo court at its best.... Why cant we be more loyal to our players and our employees rather than putting our corporate image first.

Its about ****ing time the AFC stopped allowing itself to be r*ped by the AFL (and whilst i'm at it, also by the SANFL) and stood up to them.

The AFC should offer Rendell his job back as a symbolic gesture and a fu** u to Vlad (i say symbolic, because obviously Rendell wouldnt accept it).

A good man has been destroyed - career wise and as a person, a man who obviously had deep thoughts about the problems facing young men (particularly aborigines) entering the AFL system and he had some ideas as to how to help them. Instead he is gone, but we still have ****wits like Vlad, Anderson etc taking the game away from the people....

I'm sure that Rendell will have very wide support after this.
Until now, i have said that the AFC was one of the most professional and best run but after Vince and now more so Rendell..... if it wasnt for my little grandsons who i take to the footy, i would have no hesitation in handing back my gold membership... i am extremely disappointed in the AFC.

Thanks for everything Matt Rendell - you are a credit to the game unlike those running it.

Its simple it took two months because it (the comment and context ) didnt concern Andy D but once the media got hold of it he wanted to make it look as though he did care. If he really cared why didnt he do something two months ago before the media got hold of it. I call it looking after his own ass.

And what I said earlier needs to also be considered when you look at the position Triggy was put in. The club has funding from the govt for a project in the APY Lands, the media blow up and the lack of backing from the AFL even before Rendell & Misfud was interviewed by Trigg put him between a rock and a hard place.

I think it's the AFL we should be going after. THEY are the ones that forced this to happen for whatever reason.

Jen - it was gutless or stupid. You choose.

The mud is sticking harder the club now than it did on Friday - can you agree on that? Can you agree the vast majority of our supporter base is going to be absolutely shattered we didnt stand by our man?

What would it have cost Trigg to allow Matty to have his say?

At worst we can agree the comments Rendell made were stupid and inappropriate - but that his intentions and actions had nothing but the best intentions for ANY player to given EVERY opportunity to be as successful as their dedication and talent would allow.

How oh how could it have been a bad thing to let that come out.

I do NOT believe a racist mud sling would stick to the club.

But a weak as piss and self serving sling of mud feels like it is about to...
