Should make for some interesting viewing next season the RUCKOFF between Ackland, Cloke, Hampson, Aisake amd Kruezner.

With the best player in the league at their feet, who will stand up?
Cloke surprised many with his tapping b4 injury
Ackland is playing for his career
Hampson came in under Ratts and looked the goods
Aisake is the unknown
Kruezner is the best junior in the country

So whos it going to be?

Cloke and Hampson for me!

Barring injury to others Ackland will be put out to pasture and will not play a game next year, just like we did with DMac.

Come August 08 if you pull on his teets and get a little milk he will have exceeded his output from 07

I'd like to c Ackland kept away from Judd for injury purposes

He should be barred from even training with judd

I think that it will be Cloke and the hammer for the first half of the season with the hammer playing the #2 ruck from the bench. Aisake, who will play a part in the ruck pairings in the future, will get the hang of rucking by being our ruck-rover

Then in the second half of the season, Hammer will be #1, Aisake might jump up to #2 and cloke will be the ruck-rover if things are going good for us. If they arent, I suspect that it will remain the same as the first half.

Ackland might get a run out if we have some bad injuries amongst the first team rucks and even then I would like to see Jacobs get a bit of a run out for us before Ackland.

Good to see someone else with some sense!

A lot of people on this board tend to think Kruezer is going to come in and number one ruck us from now until his career is over.

I really hope Hampson and Aisake both get as much oppurtunity as needed whilst Cloke backs them up and supports them from the forward line, easy to have 3 athletic ruckmen in the same side.

Hope to see good improvement from Jacobs and Kruezer in the VFL also.

I think that Kreuzer will have about 2 years in the VFL before become a part of the ruck team.

This will also give Hammer and Aisake enough time to get really used to playing together as a ruck pairing and then Kreuzer will come in as the junior member.

Aisake and Hammo with Cloke up forward.

Aisake will be rested down back with his brother to double team Lloyd and belt the begeesus out of him if he even looks funny, which he always does, so hes stuffed.

I think Kreuzer will come in as a forward flanker and take wiggins stop gap role there.

No matter what people think, Cain Ackland will be our no.1 ruckman for the start, but not too sure how long for. I rate him even though he didn't do too well at all this year but he did have a good couple of games nearing the end of the year, so now knowing he is playing for his career as well as him knowing hes got competition don't be surprised if we see a new Cain Ackland in 2008. I just hope everything works out well for the blues in '08 knowing now we've got one of the best midfileds in the AFL :D.

Carn the bluessssssssssssssssss:thumbsu:

ive heard from somebody who has links inside the club that Cain Ackland has been given his orders that he must contest the footy or his contract will be not be at the club @ 2009. happy to hear that i hope he steps up and does something next seasopn,
as for me i think it should be Hampson and O`Hailphin to do the rucking, yes very raw players but i really think they can do it, chuck in their Cloke who i hope holds down a permanent CHB, and pinch hitting role role in the ruck i think it can work

Mate get of the drugs, there haven't been ruck rovers for 30 years..... I can hardly imagine Cloke starting in the ruck at the centre square with Aisake in there as well as....(particularly considering he will be in the VFL side) No more likely to happen than Hampson starting in the cntre square with Cloke as a Ruck Rover. Wake up to yourself mate your knowledge of AFL footy is onnviously completely redundant and you are posting absolute dribble...

Has there ever really been a position "ruck rover" ?

The smaller on baller was called a rover and the bigger mid was called rover, apart from that well you tell me.

Hope Aisake and Hammer are given the ruck duties at start of the year. Kreuzer should play across half forward initially and depending on size and body strength improvements over summer he may just play in the ruck before too long.

One thing is for sure, once Hammer, Kreuzer and Aisake fill out we will have a formidable ruck core.

As for Cloke - I am still not convinced he will be in the Best 22

Basically mate what I am saying is do you really envisage Cloke and/or Aisake being part of our midfield rotation ???

And to answer your question re ruck rovers - what you have said is my point exactly there is no longer a bigger or smaller mid, changing in the foward pocket, instead each team has double figure midfielders that rotate through teh guts throughout the game. Similary as there is no ruck rover - the days of stay at home centreman such as Diesl are well and truly a thing of the past as well.... The game has changed a great deal so I hardly envisage Cloke and Aisake playing as "Ruck Rovers" to learnt eh craft of rucking at he expense of one of Walker, Bentick, Hadley, Judd, Scotland, Gibbs, Betts, Murphy, Simpson, Grigg etc etc rotating through the midfield.... I can reall ypicutre Asiake and Cloke cutting up the opposition with silky skills and pace as they gahter 30 possies through the middle....

We won't find too many friends here, but I actually think for us to push into the finals (a long shot) Ackland has to step up and play the footy he showed in patches last year.
It is a mental thing with Cain - he has the ability, and showed this against Port at the Dome, pantsing Laide and Brogan, and the week before beating Street and Darcy.

He can compete at this level, and, with his future depending on it, and a different voice in his ear, Ackalnd COULD be the surprise packet of 2008.

If he steps up ot takes a HUGE load off our rucks, giving us time to get games into Hampson and Aisake rotating as the second rucks.

Kreuzer should go into the Ants and ruck. Yes, we could play him as a forward pocket, later iun the year, but we want him to learn his craft in the ruck, and in the two's he should get some confidence before coming up to the seniors.

All will be revealed durint he NAB cup though with many players competing for spots. Don't be surprised to see Ratts leave Ackalnd out of the first MAB cup game, just to let him see Hammer and Aisake taking his spot as motivation.

If Cain can live up to his potential next year, we could surpirse a lot of people..........but it's a MASSIVE if.

Cloke and Hampson should be in our starting 22 at round 1. Ackland would be third in line, only IF his form improves. Let Aisake and Kreuzer develop with the Ants some more. Remember, we do have Carlos that can pinch hit in the ruck if needed.
I'm not counting Cloke.
If he gets through injury free it will be a bonus and should push Ackland back to 3, as I think the second ruck spot should be used on Hampson and Aisake to develop them.

Mate I was completely agreeing with you.....Aisake, Cloke r/rovers.....wtf?
Just as you were saying that there is no real difference between midfield possies now, I was saying that it has always really been that way
Aisake, Cloke,Hampson etc will only rotate as ruckman, tall forwards or tall backs ( I think Aisake is a chance to be tried as a key back)

I think Aisake was much closer to senior selection than Hammer before he went down at the end of last year.
He is physically more developed and has had more experience playing against men.
I expect Aisake will be given an opportunity in the NAB cup to show where is at, and this may include time up forward or down back.
I also expect that the MC will be keen to get him to 50 games as early as possible, and will not look to keep him in the Bullants beyond what is necessary.

All good mate, glad to we are on the same wavelength... I can see Aisake getting a few jobs down back as he tries to find his way in AFL footy as well.. Having said that I hope he spends most of his time in the AFL as that shouldmean the side is going OK....

Ok everyone else is too scared to say it obviously......Aisake can't play. Aisake won't make it. There is simply not a spot for him. He most certainly can't ruck ATM and I doubt ever will. He is a LONG way behind his brother for mine and his brother is going to make a career coming off the bench I think. Back up roles. Fill in ruckman. Big defender for the Kennedy and Petrie types. Pinch hit forward against a short backline. Nice to have. Aisake is a poor imitation IMO and you certainly don't need two of them.

Agree Hamo has to be there. Cloke and Acland to fight it out for a little while. If Hamo steps up quickly then they can both piss off. Setanta and Kreuzer (I've given up on the 'get Cotch' race) can pinch hit in there until Kreuzer develops.

I actually think Acland has two massive problems: he is FAR too short (without an offsetting huge leap) AND he has a pathetic engine. His lack of running ability means that just getting to ruck contests takes all his energy and therefore leaves him without anything left to contribute around the ground.
