Great optimism by you even starting this thread. Why is the Sydney game highlighted? Am going up and am very disappointed that it's not at the SCG. I hope the Swannies win a few between now and then so that someone shows up.

Tiges twice in the last ten weeks means that we'll at least win 2 more games.

One week at a time. I know.

Our first test is to overcome the difficulty in getting the team up again after such a high in Subiaco.

Richmond are also at their best they have been all season. They will want to keep their momentum up and get some positives under their belts for all the hard work their kids have been doing. This will be no walkover.

The point of greatest interest to me is that we only leave Melbourne once more this season.
We play mainly at home (7 matches) and (2 matches) at the MCG.

All of this is good news.

If we can get some sort of roll on happenning, we will hit the finals in absolutely white hot form and missing only Goddard and maybe Gardiner.

A glimmer of hope is better than no hope at all.

Let me cling to my glimmer.

Let's hope the glimmer has not dulled with Kosi out. Looking for Fraser to step up and hit form in his absense. And for Roo to put his kicking boots on this week.

Ideally he would play half forward with Frase and Kosi in the forward 50 so he need not kick for goal! He almost bottled that one from Baker! (I still rate him though!)

I would be more worried about making the finals tha having two wins against Richmond. Its great that you have missed your window of opportunity. At Richmond we dont have that sort of thing :thumbsu:

The AFL will be hoping both the swans and the saints start to win some games (consistently) They scheduled that game at TS hoping a blockbuster crowd would attend (you would of thought both teams could be top 4 material at the start of the year)

St.kilda first ever game at Tesltra Staduim? That will be interesting.

Would rather play at Telstra Stadium than the SCG i think. Sydney can choke everything you throw at them at the SCG

Only 1 more intersate game to play this season.:) All the others are very winnable, of course some will be more challenging then others but we should definitely beat Richmond, Carlton and WBulldogs(have a good record against them). Then if we do reach good form, (like Sunday) I'm sure we can beat Hawks, Adelaide and Fremantle at home... great run home IMO. Collingwood game will be huge...

It's always dangerous when you say something like this, but hey, I'll say it anyway. I don't think a win this week is enough. We have to win by over 50 - preferably over 70 points. We actually need to do this the two times we play the Tiges. Three reasons for this: the momentum is with with us, but you don't keep momentum just by beating the bottom team, you do what Geelong did to Richmond - we all remember how THAT affected the Cats. Secondly, %: obviously, if we CAN we should win these 8/10 games to have 13 wins, but ANY chance we can take to make it possible to slip into the eight with only 12, we should take. That's only going to happen if we towel some teams, starting with Richmond. The last reason is the simplest - because we can. We're a much better team than Richmond anyway, and the crowd and the team should still be fired up because it's (kinda) another testimonial game for Harvey. You gotta strike while the iron's hot, and the shirt's just lying on the board.

As for the run home, there are 5 games that we SHOULD win, given those teams' form and ladder position: Richmond twice, Carlton, Doggies and the Swans. 3 of these could/should be thrashings, as I've indicated. For the other 3 games we need, I figure the Pies, maybe the Crows, and one of either Freo or WC. I don't see us beating the Hawks in the Home and Away season.

I think the interstate game we play is actually one of the more easier ones (unless the swans can find some form)

Interstate games in themselves are not always the issue, they pose a few minor problems with recovery the following week, but that is something a professional outfit should easily overcome. My thoughts are with the benefits of being able to play 9 out of ten matches without the interruption of travel.

We have an enviable recent record at home.

This time last season we were sitting 6 and 6 (we're 5W and 7L this year).
If the AFL had not taken the two points off of us for the sirengate fiasco we would have finished third last year.

Maybe we do have a genuine chance at playing finals footy this year.

This is a refreshing thought after believing that we had wasted a year.

St.kilda need to beat both Richmond and Collingwood in the next two weeks. If we don't beat these teams, we won't be playing finals footy. That Kangaroos game was really a missed oppourtunity. Very winnable game. However, if we get 7-7 after round 14, then finals could be a real chance. Collingwood are a good team we need to be at our very best (hopefully kosi comes back)

Definitely a low point in the season for mine, unless I'm (we're) underestimating them dramatically.

StKildonan, the effort and skill level in that game was the disappointing aspect after the week we'd had in the press. I suspect there was too much self analysis and politics going on that proved a distraction. Ironically a trip out West away from the club and the media focusing on Harv's was probably just what we needed.

Presuming that we do win this week (i think it will be a close match tho), i think the 3 weeks after this week will determine if we play finals or if we are good enough to play finals this year - we play collingwood, adelaide (@ home), and hawthorn. If we won those 3 games then we'd show that we are good enough to play finals this year. However, with us needing to win 8/10 matches...every week from now on is a mini-final and there isn't much margin for error.

Now that we've lost Kosi for probably 3 weeks, Goose's inclusion into the side soon is even more critical - if he could make a swift and problem-free return to the side he could make a huge difference in our run @ finals.

i like our chances here boys.. like u said, not much margin for error but there are plenty of really winable games there
