Lol, I thought the same thing when I saw the thread title.
Anyway, as for the curve of the sash, it doesn't really bother me that much and it has changed in the past. It's still a red sash on a black top. People get too sentimental over meaningless things IMO. But obviously people are entitled to differing opinions.

Considering that the original sash would have probably indeed been an actual sash, one would think it would have had natural curvature to it anyway, and that the straight diagonal sash would then indeed be the new fangled imposter.

The sash appears as a straight line from shoulder to hip. The new guernseys have the sash almost appearing to be vertical on the left side before crossing the body.

You've changed my mind ghostdog. At the start of the thread I didn't really care either way but on closer inspection I think the curve looks good and has a bit more flair to it than the old 80's straight ones, my how time flies. Looks a bit more modern too, good work!
