i was listening until he announced final 3 gooses of the year. had to turn off cause went into a meeting. however i giggled through the prelude, smith is pretty funny at times.

I'll be honest I don't mind him. He isn't an arse licker and I find him funny.

I've said this before, but Patrick Smith had a grouse argument years ago on 774 with former umpire Peter Cameron.

For a while during the '90s in footy media, when ever there was talk about umpiring problems, Cameron was the go-to guy for an opinion, because people like BT pumped him up as being a great umpire, and that back in his day, things were "much better." So he was apparently seen as the all-knowing authority on how footy should be umpired.

So, one day, Cameron was on the phone on 774 talking to Smith and the other ABC guys (it might've been Time Lane). Cameron said something a little silly (I can't remember what, unfortunately), and Patrick suddenly went off and took him to task, saying stuff like, "what? What did you just say? Are you serious? Can you repeat that? That's outrageous!" Ya know, like we've heard many times since.

Well, ya shoulda heard the indignation from Peter Cameron. He was having conniptions, saying, "who is this? Who am I talking too!?! *harumph, harumph* " He was shocked that someone DARED question him.
Eh, you had to be there. It was awesome.

I heard him too. All he had to say was that his opinion differs from KB, but no, Mr Fine had to put a nasty edge to his discription of KB and what he said.

I would listen to KB's opinions on anything long before giving Mr Fine any credibility.

....and for those who say not to listen etc, have said all along that he generally does an interesting program with good guests.......and I like Peakey

what i was getting at subtlety was that the media and people in general like to point out that steve johnson was suspended for his act, and wow look geelong were so successful!!!11!! but examine the talent they had coming through, it was more than likely they were going to have a lot of wins.

you never hear the same people espousing the same line when the team is down the bottom of the ladder.
