He did say filthy cheats didn't he, but imo it didn't detract from his stance ( and message) one bit.

yeah dc comes from an olynpic background where it is seen as pinnacle of the drugs and catching cheats. i actually found his viewpoint refreshing.

The intravenous drips were only a re-hydration solution........ok'd at the time, until some people kicked up such a fuss, it was decided to stop the practice.....and we did. It was never a underhanded, secretive program. The AFL knew about it, everyone knew about it.

Was nothing remotely like what took place at Essendon.

So please refrain by lumping the Lions in with the likes of Essendon.

There is a whole board dedicated to the topic if you want to discuss Essendon and refer to them as filthy cheats.

Having read a lot of Essendon supporter posts over the last few years I'm quite satisfied I don't come close to being special so your affirmation is appreciated.

Whether they are or not I am not going to get into, but for a commentator to use the term 'filthy cheats' made it sound like he was being overly emotional about the whole thing. Say they were cheating if you like but using the term 'filthy cheats' just made him sound irrational and that he was not giving a balanced subjective view of the situation. (He didn't just use it to describe the Essendon players either). And despite his arguments I do think there are some differences between an individual track and field athlete or cyclist (for example) taking PEDs and what went on at Essendon.

What amuses me about Culbert talking about drugs in a cynical manner. Is that he lauds Carl Lewis. He's a drug cheat too.

Well my point isn't moot, I thought the use of the term (whoever it was applied too) weakened his argument. It's clear it was meant to taint the Essendon players by association too.
