Finally decided to give it a go. Really didn't like the first few episodes and stopped watching for a few weeks but gave it another try and now I can't get enough. In the last episode of season 2.

Agree. The Wire is so very awesome. When I finally "got it" was the scene with Jimmy and Bunk that lasts about 5 minutes but only consists of the F- word.

I bought season 1-5 together and then season 6 when I had almost finished 5. Just finished watching 7.

Can't believe how it ended.. I don't know, I just. Didn't see it.

Great show though, GREAT show. The whole cast was incredible.

Funnily enough, I bought seasons 1-5 on the spot after remembering watching it once or twice on Ten late night with my Dad.. I think it was the one where he was giving Connie cash to feed her son early in season 1.

So, with that as my only memory, I bought them ($16 per season, what a steal). I watched the whole show's run in the span of about 2 months. So glad that I did.

Great show, the Barn was the best backdrop for a police station possible.

Up to season 4. Season 3 was very high quality but the highlight for me has been the transformation of David Acevada's character. Has been sublime.

Have watched the first 12 eps of season 7 in a day. Absolutely brilliant! Thought 6 wasn't as good as 4 and 5 but this blows them all away. Only 2 eps to go and then that's it

yep season 5 rocks season 6 was a bit of a let down,l just finished season 7 this week well no more shield well it had to end some time l guess.

Dutch provided accidental humour. Like that scene where the strike team installed a surveillance camera in his car and watched him have a really awkward date, funny times.

Were you expecting it to be a sitcom ?

No not at all. More of a compliment than anything, the show is acted so well by the main cast that it has your emotions on a string throughout the whole thing. I just re-watched Season 5 the other day.

Just finished watching the final episode ever!

Hmmmm I was sad such a great show came to an end.

Its pity that a lot of people in Australia missed out on this great drama.

Vic was definitely an anti-hero if ever there was one.

The show was dark and gritty and totally different to any other run of the mill cop show out there, nothing ever compares to this show.

Vic shooting a fellow cop in the opening season blew me away, I thought this guy cannot be in it for the long haul, I was so wrong.

Not exactly, I figured it was part of his investigative obsession - if memory serves correct a crim he had just busted spoke about the feeling of looking in someone's eyes as they died and Dutch was curious so he tried it. Plus he probably really wanted to kill the cat anyway.
