of andrew williams actually doing something good, and kicking the winning goal. I would almost have bet my life against him kicking that goal, or even registering a score.

great kick in the end though....

but aside from that kick how bad was he? dropped a couple of sitters...
cant believe hes still on the list... and that he's probably bought himself another season..........

Form of 2003? You mean he might play 2 or 3 good games as a secondary forward/midfield option?

I can't believe how easily this bloke has been pumped up after a goodish practice match. If he plays that well every week for the rest of his career he will be a handy footballer. I rate the odds of that as well over 1,000:1 and even then he will take the place on the list and in the team of a developing player with potentially more upside. I’d rather see Brayden Shaw struggle so at least we can make a call on him or Zane Leonard get a go than see Williams show out because he has worked his arse off to be fitter than anyone else at this early time of the pre season.

I pray he has a very good year and someone wants him next trade week in a package deal with O'Bree and Lokan for a draft pick upgrade.

He's always been a good kick. He was definitely going to nail it.

Kicking isnt his problem. His problem is decision making, toughness, and finding a role to play where his clangers will cost us the fewest goals.

Played a good first quarter then disappeared completely until he reappeared and kicked the goal. Ok game from a dreadful player against the 2004 wooden spooner, I'd give him 4/10.

This is all true.

He's too big to play a midfield role IMO. Even at VFL level, his lack of agility and pace off the mark gets him into trouble constantly.

He's appeared to be half capable within the forward 50 against crap opposition, but then, ironically, he's not big enough that a regular medium defender can't beat him and run off him causing damage. Williams as a forward would likely get a guy like Kenelley or a Ryan Lonie type, who'd destroy us on the rebound.

To be fair, we've had bigger spaks in our midst over the past decade, so to see him do two or three nice things on Friday in a Wizzer Cup isn't a surprise. But he most certainly didn't dominate the way a late 20s AFL player should. Indeed, he was generally very quiet and put us under pressure more often than he relieved it.

Just don't get me started on Rhyce Shaw and Matthew Lokan! Grrrrrr!!!

Of all our spazzos, only O'Bree played a genuinely good game for four quarters. I still hold out hope that his 2002 form can be recovered. He's a good ballgetter and at full form he'll add something to the team. Williams deserves another game, and Shaw and Lokan should be dropped immediately.

Unlike most, I don't rank O'Bree as a spaz. I think he's a good depth player, so long as his contract reflects this. His kicking was good on Friday.

Shaw and Lokan have no AFL ability. Williams has next to no AFL ability, but he's moved ahead of Shaw in my books. Lokan is the weakest link.

Given our supposedly good rookies such as Harry, Fanny and the Zane, would it be reasonable to ask Shaw and Lokan to volunteer a broken arm? It worked for Michael Caine in Escape to Victory to get Silvester Stallone into the line up!

No I was being a bit harsh. He's an overpaid run of the mill ball magnet midfielder who can't kick over a jam tin, who has underperfomed for the past two seasons. But he's not our worst.

you guys are way over the top, every team has what you label so called duds.

live with it, move on and let it go. they will not dictate clubs fortunes to much of a degree in 05.

I don't think there's such a thing as "a run of the mill ball magnet" because ball magnets are hard to find. He is no dud. Think back to 2001, we was up there with the best on our list. I know he hasn't performed in the last 3 years, but he's no dud.

If we were to offload Lokan, Shaw, Obree and Williams, Cheese would be the most likely to embarass us.
