Couldn't believe how many "win a hard ball Chad/Danyle......" comments there were.

The 'Chad is soft, HURRRR DURRRR' myth is akin to accusing Aaron Sandilands of not being tall enough - only player in the league to be top 5(?... or 10, can't remember which) in both contested marks and contested possessions in the past decade.

I am a Richmond supporter who decided to take my Port partner to our first showdown yesterday where we sat in Bay 237 amongst majority Crows supporters/members. We were enyoying an entertertaining game of footy until 5 minutes into the last quarter after the Power kicked the first three goals. It started to turn nasty when the Cow supporters realised their beloved team were staring down the barrel of another defeat. What a pack of sore losers I thought whilst they were venting their frustration to my partner and nearby Port supporters. I am proud that she gave it back and absolutely rubbed it in midway through the final term. I have witnessed many games of footy here and in Melbourne over thirty years, but hardly anything like yesterday. Finally, I would like to congratulate the PAFC for a magnificent Showdown 28 victory against the cross town rival and hoping the Tiges will contribute to their woeful season next week!

Thats crows supporters alright! 99.99% of them know nothing about football or the way its played. They're all front runners and quite "inbred".

Cheers and Goodluck next week, We'll all be going for you blokes :thumbsu::D

Are you the same dil who rang up 5aa on the sunday sports show more or less telling the same story as you have here ala sucking up big time to another clubs supporters ?

No disrespect to your board intended mods of the happy place.

I'm sure hoping that the Tigers song will be playing after the game.

Like the Tigers of old,
we're strong and we're bold...

To say that a tigers win would shake up footy in this state for a few weeks would be an understatement. Do that small thing for us. :thumbsu::):thumbsu:

Leaving early as opposed to not turning up at all when your team is in a slump...hmmm

Seriously, if there were 40k there and 10k were Port supporters, does that mean only 30k of your supporters rocked up? To a home game against your cross town rival? That is kinda pathetic. It's really one of the few opportunities that we actually have to go along to a game with a couple of your mates that support the other mob. This why the big games in Melbourne get the big crowds, because games against your big rivals are actually more fun, more memorable, have greater anticipation and generally mean more. There is a large element of Crows supporters that will only go if they can sit in a totally sterile environment with no "outsiders" sitting any where near them and go thinking the game is 95% in the bag.

Be interesting what kind of a crowd they get this week. Whilst they will have their sterile environment back and they are playing a team they should beat, twighlight Sunday is a terrible time slot. Could they pull a sub 30k?

Well done to the Port cheer squad. Did the Cows have a cheer squad at the game, I don't recall hearing them

Was a great Port crowd for their home game.
Completley miffed by the 40,000 people count ......
Ask almost any Cows' supporter and they will tell you that the reason they only get 40K to a supposedly sold out 51K stadium is because of all of those Port supporting AAMI Ultimate Members, such as myself, who don't go to Cows' games.

Had a "typical" Cows' supporter in front of me that turned around and glared at me when ever I cheered on the Port boys in the first quarter. He must have got a stiff neck by quarter time as he gave up after that. Maybe he also realised that the more he glared the louder and more often I cheered :D

...... hoping the Tiges will contribute to their woeful season next week!
Go Tiges :thumbsu:

If the Tiges win the Cows will have to mount a 24hr guard on "Losers Corner" :p

On a side note.... **** barracking for Richmond (no disrespect Tigers fans)!!!

Who gives a shit about the Crows now we've played and beaten them... or who they play next week.

Personally, I rather focus on our club and now playing Essendon. Sure I will have fun with my Crow supporting friends this week, but I couldn't give a $%# about their game against Richmond.

Cheers... 100% Port supporter!

this!

although it would be fun to hang shit on my crow mates if they lose this week

Maybe their reason for the no-shows can be applied to us as well - but I suppose it's just a lack of supporters or just bandwagoners

The success or otherwise of the Crows directly effects the club I love in terms of ability to atract new sponsors, ability to attract new fans, ability to generate media etc. etc.

Plus I love the feeling of walking around all week with a smile on my face saying nothing whilst my Crow mates who are first to hang shit on me if Port lose are on tender hooks waiting for a biting comment that never comes.

I love seeing them lose! Go the Tigers.

Dont agree with the Sponsor side of things as we dont look like parting company with Toyota and not sure about the media.History shows the worse we get the more we get trying to pump us up,urging people to support us

You would think the worse we get the better it is for you Fan wise if there is someone thinking about following footy they see Port up the top and us Way down then you would think Port would be there choice.

Ive always said there are just as many swinging footy supporters as there is voters at elections

We have played absolutely terribly over the last couple of years and what that has left us with is basically the diehards going to games, the 20-25k. There has not been the spark or desire for the swingers or the bandwagoners to get to games for us, coupled with stadium issues and live TV etc our crowds have been percieved as very poor.

But, you guys have largely been buffered from these issues because you have played consistently highly competitive football over the last 4 or 5 years, winning often at home and being in contention every year. It was easier for your supporters to get up for games. This has now changed as evidenced by the the crowd on Saturday and it will be interesting to see if Crows crowds are closer to the 30,000 than the 40,000 over the remainder of the year.

I hope they are because then things like Stadium Deals and Adelaide Oval issues/ benefits will come further into the spotlight.

WTH are you talking about??? I hardly listen to 5aa let alone talk to them about the crap you've quoted above, Rowan.

How about shooting off back to your own delusional board and comment on the lack of success your club has experienced this season with the oldest list in the AFL! To$$er!

Was a good day, apart from the result of course. Both Showdowns are the best games of the year, in terms of being there.

You guys certainly did well in terms of supporting your club, and where I was, Bay 134 there was some good banter amongst all of us.

Blow up chardonnay and wooden spoons made me smile. Just like when a group of us were handing out fake money to those that left early when we belted you last year with "Port New Coach Fund" written on it. Looks like it worked, you did get Laidley.

Bet you wish you kept that money now :)
