I guess they have to try to make cricket entertaining somehow. The 'lad' angle seems to be in overdrive in the commentary box.

Maybe I'm just hoping it's an act but I had lunch with Mark Waugh and his wife Kim at the races a few weeks back and he was nothing like the way he sounds on tv.

If I ever see Chris Gayle in the flesh I'm gonna knock him down. How dare he disrespect my Mel like that.

This is Cameron Williams. He once coerced a female Fox Sports employee into taking her top and bra off in front of him on set while the cameras were turned off. While he was released from his duties at Fox at the time he's still gainfully employed in the industry and and now commands a high profile role at Channel 9.

Was it Jo Beth Taylor who took her top off?

What he said was wrong, cringe worthy and inappropriate and I get why people are upset by the comments. But this, really? Some people are acting as if the guy went out and r*ped 4 women last night.

Female reporter repulsed by sportsman who sexually harasses her peers.

Seems an adequate response to turn away from him and give him no respect back.

Honestly if they thought what he did was that heinous they wouldn't have interviewed him at all and their employers would of respected that.

Nah, she (they? just one is turned away) is just getting on with her job. That is professionalism.

At any rate, it's a photograph. She might just be turned because there's little room to stand between the other reporters.

lol what

if by `respected' you mean get someone else in to do the interview instead, maybe, but the network was always going to do the interview, right?

But lets pretend she does pull out, next minute the muppet public: "Oh you can't rely on women journalists, they're always pulling out of interviews when there's news just because they can't take a joke."

And then you see it in recruitment, for the same reasons as why people think young women are going to run off on maternity leave, so you add an unconscious bias against women in jobs like this.

The only option any female journo had was to cover the interview, whether they like it or not. Its up to their employers to make the big calls to protect their employees.

Hundreds of thousands of people watching domestic cricket, yeah stuff that, what a bunch of losers lololol :drunk:
Cricket haters are like vegans, ooooo you don't like cricket, cool.

Come on, she's getting paid to report the news. Reports only report on topics they enjoy of feel comfortable about?? Hope she never gets a job as a court reporter.

I've heard conflicting stories about Mark Waugh, was he good value or a bit arrogant?

Being the father of two teenage daughters I loved Jennifer Lawrence's recent, pertinent quote about not being paid as much as "the lucky people with dicks."
She does naked pics and is the highest paid in her film, she also gets plenty more work than the men in the film that can actually act.

I think she has done a lot better from not having one.

Mel was hired was because she shows a great insight into sport, as seen by the fact that she was the host of Fox's A-League coverage and would know more about EPL than most of the people on here. The fact that she is good looking should be secondary to her being able to do her job. Of course, there would be a lot of truth in what you say, which is why her leaving Fox was a mistake for her career. She's probably getting paid more money, but the presenters on Fox actually respected her and her opinion whereas the drongos on Ten and the bogan element do not.
And most all presenters are hired on their looks as well as their skills...they are more 'presentable' male of female.

Only they haven't, have they? She's probably wishing that nothing had ever come of it and we'll be lucky to ever see Chris Gayle in Australia again. The way to handle this was to let it go and no-one would be saying anything today.

If a reporter was that offended by Gayle (be it male or female) and asked their employer they'd prefer not to interview him on those grounds I reckon they'd comply. This wasn't the only news story needing coverage in the world today. Way to take it out of context and on a complete different tangent.

fwiw I think Gayle is a dickhead that made completely inappropriate com before I'm tarred and feathered as a sexist or misogynist.
