- Not really trying to pick the right position the player will go in the ND but more of how highly i rate the player and trying to fit the needs of the club.
- Not including the five round because i'm not exactly sure who will get upgrade by each club.
Enjoy!
ROUND ONE
#1 - Greater Western Sydney
Stephen Coniglio
183 / 70 / 93
Recruited From: Swan Districts
Bio: Everyone knew he'll become a star after his very first game, the WAFL grand final where he dominated as a 16 year old and he has only got better since. There really isn't any weak points in his game, he's got a great workrate, moves well in traffic, great kicking action, hits the scoreboard regularly, has a great footy brain and skills are elite.
#2 - Greater Western Sydney
John Patton
197 / 95 / 93
Recruited From: Eastern Ranges
Bio: John is easily the best tall forward in this draft and players like him don't come in every draft, GWS really do have a player of their hands, he's already an AFL made player so expect a few early games. For a guy of his size he's very quick and athletic, always provides a contest, does the second/third efforts extremely well and has an amazing pair of hands. People compare him to Tom Hawkins and that he'll struggle at AFL level but John is a completely different player. Hawkins relies on his body while Patton uses his pace and is more of a lead up forward.
#3 - Greater Western Sydney
Will Hoskin-Elliott
182 / 73 / 93
Recruited From: Western Jets
Bio: WHE is set to sky rocket up the rankings after some amazing draft combine results. His endurance (15.12 beep test and 9.53min 3km time) is elite and when you combine that with speed you really do have the complete player and when you had the fact that he's flexible, smart, great decision maker, doesn't go to ground easily and can easily kick 50 meters it'll be impossible for recruiters to pass on him.
#4 - Greater Western Sydney
Don Tyson
186 / 82 / 93
Recruited From: Calder Cannons
Bio: Few people would have not known who he was before the u18 games but after his performances, especially his GF performance quickly won a few fans over. He's a midfielder who has the ability to play inside and outside and have a big impact on the game and racks up big numbers each week. Skills are very good, so is his tackling and awareness and while he's not very quick he still has the ability to escape from packs.
#5 - Greater Western Sydney
Billy Longer
202 / 95 / 93
Recruited From: Northern Knights
Bio: Longer is the best ruckman available in this years draft. His tap work is very solid but the thing i like about him is that he'll basically act as another midfielder for you, his skills are surprisingly good and for a guy of his height his skills at ground level quick and direct. Another major bonus of recruiting this guy is that he can play in more than one position which is a must in the modern game. He'd be the perfect "resting" ruckman.
#6 - Port Adelaide
Chad Wingard
181 / 68 / 93
Recruited from : Sturt
Bio: Wingard is a pretty small skinny kid but you can't fault his attack on the ball, has to be top three in the draft, he just see's the ball and throws his body at it. What i love about him is that he never panics and always picks the right decision, he always seems to have that extra second. His skills are elite. He isn't much of an accumulator but more of a player who will get 20 possessions and have a big impact type of guy. He's also capable of playing as a forward when he's resting.
#7 - Greater Western Sydney
Liam Sumner
182 / 70 / 93
Recruited From: Sandringham Dragons
Bio: Really hard to pick where Liam will go in the draft but i think based X factor he'll easily be a top ten pick. There's so much to talk about this kid, he possess amazing athletic ability, agility, great leap and strength despite been a pretty skinny player. Watching him against SA i loved the way he broke free from stoppages and was still able to have enough time to delivery a bullet pass to a forward. At the moment he's very inconsistent but never the less a super raw talent with enormous potential.
#8 - Brisbane Lions
Matthew Buntine
188 / 84 / 93
Recruited From: Dandenong Stingrays
Bio: He's very professional on how he goes about his footy and that's why i think he'll be a star in the future and a perfect fit for Brisbane in the half back. He was extremely impressive against the Geelong VFL side, he provided so much run off half back and did not miss a target by foot while at the same time his opponent didn't have much impact. He had a poor champs series due to injuries but clubs can see how talented and it'll be hard for any club to pass on him.
#9 - Greater Western Sydney
Todd Elton
197 / 87 / 93
Recruited From: Dandenong Stingrays
Bio: Todd had a disappointing champ series but there is no doubt he's very talented. He's a work horse who will never spot providing leads and become the link up man. He was a good pair of hands and great skills for a man of his type. He won't be the type who will kick bags each week but more of the guy who will rack up a very respectable amount of possessions and marks and roam the CHF/HFF area. He is also capable of playing in the ruck. He's having a strong finish to the year so he might sneak into the top ten.
#10 - Greater Western Sydney
Elliot Kavanagh
187 / 78 / 93
Recruited From: Western Jets
Bio: Another quality midfielder who has been struck down by injury early this year. Despite not playing any champ games his first game back at TAC level was unbelievable. Completely dominated and you wouldn't have known he was out injured for so long. He's a pretty dashy quick player and his footy smarts are one of a kind, if he played every game this season you'd think he'd be a top ten pick, will be very interesting to see where he goes in the real thing. Scored well in the clean hands test at the draft combine.
#11 - Greater Western Sydney
Taylor Adams
181 / 80 / 93
Recruited From: Geelong Falcons
Bio: For an inside midfielder his outside skills are elite likewise his endurance. He's a great tackler, works smartly around packs and his skills under pressure are very impressive. He's a terrific mark for a guy of his size which is a massive plus for him considering the new rules the AFL has put in. Expect him to play a bit in the forwardline when he's resting.
#12 - Brisbane
Shane Kersten
191 / 90 / 93
Recruited From: South Fremantle
Bio: A power forward who despite missing most of the year with injury is the second best option behind Patton. You only need to watch last years efforts to see how good he can be, great potential. He outperformed Darling as an underage player which says a lot. He's a quick leading stay at home forward who has an amazing pair of hands and a very accurate kick at goal. Currently dominating the WAFL and his stocks will only rise come draft day.
#13 - Greater Western Sydney
Sam Frost
193 / 85 / 93
Recruited From: Sandringham Dragons
Bio: Isn't the best defender in the draft but he's extremely athletic and flexible he's able to play at either end of the ground and have immediate impact which is what ceperates him with the other KPP's in the draft. He's very quick, has a great leap and always dones the team thing.
#14 - Greater Western Sydney
Mitchell Grigg
183 / 81 / 93
Recruited From: Norwood
Bio: Whenever i watch him play he always reminds me of Rich. An AFL built inside midfielder with very damaging skills. He has the ability to win plenty of the contestant ball and use it effectively while at the same time his outside game is just as good. His main strength has to be his kicking, the 50 meter bullet passes will definitely have recruiters looking at him. He dominated the champ series and dominated to make a mark in the SANFL.
#15 - Richmond
Devon Smith
175 / 73 / 93
Recruited from: Geelong Falcons
Bio: A player who can play as a small forward or an inside midfielder and who possess great leadership qualities while footy wise he's very quick, great mark for his size, great endurance, a smart decision maker and wins his own ball. He also has the ability to play as a small forward and have impact, kicked 6 goals against NT on top of his 26 possessions.
#16 - Fremantle
Shane Nelson
178 / 70 / 93
Recruited From: West Perth
Bio: Super talented all round player who can run all day. He's a outside midfielder who racks is able to rack up big numbers each week and more importantly use it effectively. He's a fantastic "link" up player and can collect a few touches in a single run. Another positive thing about Shane is that he's equally as good as an inside player and will win you clearances. Scored well in most areas in the draft combine.
#17 - Western Bulldogs
Fraser McInnes
194 / 91 / 93
Recruited From: Perth Football Club
Bio: Picked purely on upside. A KPP who can comfortable at either end of the ground but will be used as a defender because of his ability to read the play well and his ability to win most of the one on one battles. He's a very strong marker, good mover for his size and has some pretty decent agility to add to his package.
#18 - North Melbourne
Sam Docherty
183 / 83 / 93
Recruited From: Gippsland Power
Bio: That super quick half back flanker that every team must have. Sam is the best in the business, he's one of the fastest players in the draft and racks up plenty of rebounds out of defense. His defensive work is very solid but the thing recruiters will love about him is his kicking under pressure, he's already one of the best kicks in the draft and under pressure he's extremely clam and collected.
#19 - Essendon
Toby Greene
180 / 78 / 93
Recruited From: Oakleigh Chargers
Bio: This kid just gets the job done each week without any trouble. He's an extremely drilled inside midfielder who can win plenty of the contestant stuff, great endurance, agility and attack on the ball but at the same time his run and carry will be irreplaceable for whatever club decides to take him.
#20 - Fremantle
Jordan Lockyer
190 / 85 / 93
Recruited From: West Perth
Bio: One of the most physical and aggressive players in this draft. His attack on the ball is first class, takes massive contestant marks, can dodge tackles and break them and more importantly his kicking and hand balling skills are solid. What will clubs will love about him is that he can play in almost any position. He can play as a shut down defender or as a goal kicking forward.
#21 - Sydney
Tom Mitchell F/S
181 / 79 / 93
Recruited From: Claremont
Bio: Personally i think Mitchell has a top five pick so Sydney definitely did hit the jackpot here. He's able to play as an inside or outside player and take the game away from the opposition. Elite skills, great endurance, strong around the hips and his awareness around packs is special. He was injured for most of this year but dominated in the one WAFL game he played and the last two rounds of the champs for WA.
#22 - Carlton
Jackson Paine
193 / 87 / 93
Recruited From: Sandringham Dragons
Bio: He has all the attributes of becoming a successful forward. Good lead up speed, great overhead marker, marks the ball at it's highest point which is what i love about him. On top of that he's workrate will win him plenty of the ball and has the skills to use it effectively. He has very solid in the champ series and was clearly over shadowed by Patton.
#23 - West Coast
Daniel Markworth
189 / 78 / 92
Recruited From: Calder Cannons
Bio: What a great story we have here. All round talented sports player who played basketball and tennis in his early days knocked back an offer from Calder Cannons in year 12 to focus on his studies. Ended up getting 95 and luckily another invite from CC as an overage player. He has improved enormously this season, he's a smart lead up forward who has a massive kick on him. Very flexible, athletic and fast.
#24 - Gold Coast
Brad McKenzie
188 / 75 / 93
Recruited From: Sturt
Bio: Like the other McKenzie his kicking is a real feature of his game. He's able to kick targets lace out from 50+ meters away, he has a very good footy brain, doesn't crack under pressure and to top it off his inside work is above average. The only thing that doesn't go his way is that he isn't very athletic and recruiters focus heavily of that these days but that's something a few pre seasons can definitely fix.
#25 - St.Kilda
Brandon Ellis
181/ 81 / 93
Recruited From: Calder Cannons
Bio: Excellent shut down defender with a very unique build and can definitely play a role next season for any team. Very team orientated, smart reader of the play, great tackler, good strength, closing speed is immense, can win the contestant ball with ease and his rebound kicks are a class above when you judge them by hurt factor.
#26 - Richmond
Sam Kerridge
188 / 84 / 93
Recruited From: Bendigo Pioneers
Bio: Big bodied inside midfielder who's first two steps allows him to escape from the would be tackler. Very consistent in racking up big numbers each week and looks super dangerous whenever he does have it. Can take a big mark so expect him to have some forwardline action when resting.
#27 - Adelaide
Michael Talia
193 / 87 / 93
Recruited From: Calder Cannons
Bio: Very vocal - great leader. Can play one on one and win plenty of the battles while also been able to play the loose man in defenders and help his other teammates out. He's a great contestant marker and fairly solid endurance. On the downside is that his speed isn't that great and can get caught out by fast lead up types and his foot skills can be dodgy at times but those things can definitely be worked on.
#28 - West Coast
John Mckenzie
178 / 77 / 93
Recruited From: South Launceston
Bio: One of the most professional players in the draft. This guy is pure class on and off the field. A goal kicking inside midfielder with tremendous leadership qualities. Does all the hard inside work and dishes it off to his outside team mates and sets an example for the rest of the team. Great skills, endurance, awareness and never gives up. Won the division two MVP.
#29 - Fremantle
Julian Dobosz
193 / 85 / 92
Recruited From: North Hobart
Bio: One of my favorites in the draft and big steal for this pick. He's an amazing talented full forward who simply cannot drop a mark. He's probably the best contestant marker in the draft and has big plenty of massive bags this season. He has a damn good footy brain, he always seems to be the right position and reads the ball in the air so much better than his opponent while body wise he's very athletic and quick.
#30 - Brisbane Lions
Henry Schade
194 / 81 / 93
Recruited From: North Hobart
Bio: When he debuted for his very first game his impact was immense and only continued to improve in the champs. Despite not been fully developed he still managed to beat his direct opponents in the one on ones despite most of them been much bigger than him. Another massive plus would be that he has hurt factor with his disposal despite been a full back. His penetrating left foot can break open a game while also having a good leap and agility to add to his game.
ROUND TWO
#31 - Essendon
Hayden Crozier
184 / 68 / 93
Recruited From: Eastern Ranges
Bio: Very inconsistent player but has a crazy amount of X factor and can you a game by himself in a quarter of footy. He IS a highlights package, he's super smart around goals, good skills, pretty quick and has the best leap in the draft. Once he gets a few pre seasons into him and gains more weight he'll become more consistent and will play more time in the midfield on top of his forwardline work.
#32 - Geelong
Andrew Boseley
194 / 80 / 92
Recruited From: Geelong Falcons
Bio: He's probably the best KPD in the draft and is one of a few who have actually limited Patton's impact on a game. He's a very athletic player who reads the ball extremely well in the air. He's still got plenty of improvement left in him so he's a very exiting prospect.
#33 - Hawthorn
Tom Curran
195 / 85 / 93
Recruited From: Oakleigh Chargers
Bio: Big upside in this kid. He did great jobs in the forwardline and the backline in the champs. As a forward he's a leading type who is a great mark overhead and skills are very good and can be very damaging. As a defender he can do important roles when needed and reads the ball in the air well. Needs to work on his agility.
#34 - Geelong
Nic Haynes
191 / 70 / 92
Recruited From: Dandenong Stingrays
Bio: Love players who take the game on with their speed and have the ability to break the lines. He's very flexible as he can play as a rebounding half back player or as a attacking forward line one. As you would expect his agility is his key weapon while his marking is super solid also and his awareness is also great. Despite been a year older than most draftees i doubt he'll play many games next year due to his skinny frame so he will need a few pre seasons in the gym before becoming a solid contributor.
#35 - St Kilda
Haydn Hector
181 / 81 / 93
Recruited From: Gippsland Power
Bio: Was very surprised GWS didn't pick him up considering they asked him to attend the combine last year. Inside/outside midfielder with elite endurance and can play run with roles to good effect. His attack on the ball is great, good reader of the play, great courage and is a super mark for his height. His kicking can be great but can also let him down at times.
#36 - Melbourne
Alex Forster
189 / 75 / 93
Recruited From: Norwood
Bio: Medium sized defender who can uses the ball brilliant on both sides, excellent marker of the ball and demands the ball when rebounding. On top of that he can do his job defensively and was one of the reasons why SA did so well in the champ series. Was really the surprise package of the year.
#37 - St Kilda
Josh Waldhuter
184 / 83 / 93
Recruited From: Central District
Bio: Matured body player who isn't afraid to put his body on the line. His attack of the ball is huge and the repeat efforts is what clubs will be after. Along with that his speed is above average and skills are great - very penetrating kick. Will be a very good pick at for whoever takes him but needs to work on his tank, he can fade out in games and doesn't rack up massive numbers.
#38 - Hawthorn
Murray Newman
179 / 67 / 93
Recruited From: Swan Districts
Bio: Super exiting prospect here. Loves taking the opposition on with his speed and generally wins the battle. He has a penetrating kick when he wants to use it while his handballing is very accurate and quick. Loves to be involved, very team orientated type player who tries to get his team mates involved and for a guy of his weight he can brush off tackles. Can link up from the backline and have a chain of possessions then deliver it onto a forwards chest.
#39 - Western Bulldogs
Sebastian Ross
187 / 82 / 93
Recruited From: North Ballarat Rebels
Bio: A player who makes thing happen through his work rate. Always tried to be involved where ever he can, lays good tackles and when he does have the ball his vision along with his footskills are a real feature of his game and can be very damaging if isn't shut down. Not a player you'd want to play freely close to the goals.
#40 - North Melbourne
Thomas Sheridan
185 / 76 / 93
Recruited From: Calder Cannons
Bio: Expect him to rise up the draft rankings after a very promising draft combine. Usually performs without getting much hype unlike a few others but he's an inside midfielder with very polish skills, good awareness and never panics. A very polished midfield prospect.
#41 - Adelaide
Steven Verrier
188 / 82 / 93
Recruited From: South Fremantle
Bio: One of the best decision makers in the draft. His pressure, vision, clean pick ups, second and third efforts, tackling and disposal is all first class while he's got good endurance and agility to add to his package. Can play in a number of positions.
#42 - St Kilda
Brody Mihocek
191 / 86 / 93
Recruited From: Burnie
Bio: One of Tassie's most promising players in this years team and can only keep rising up the rankings after producing plenty of solid performances throughout the year. He's a third tall type player who is an excellent overall marker and skills are very clean. Great athletic and looks very fit after pulling a couple of good draft combine scores.
#43 - Sydney Swans
Brett O’Hanlon
189 / 82 / 93
Recruited From: Dandenong Stingrays
Bio: Power forward who has all the aspects of becoming elite but needs to develop a few tricks. Very strong marker, presents well, great reader of the play, work his way to the front at all costs, fifty plus meter left foot kick and is able to kick bags and win the game for the team.
#44 - Carlton
Adam Tomlinson
192 / 86 / 93
Recruited From: Oakleigh Chargers
Bio: Undersized KPP who is more of a defender but can play as a forward. Hasn't played up to his potential as yet but can have big impact on his day. He's a good overhead marker, good ball user and agility is very solid. Expect him to have good impact as a third tall or when he plays senior footy.
#45 - Port Adelaide
Lewis Hender
187 / 88 / 93
Recruited From: Glenelg
Bio: Super exiting forward who burst into the scene. He's a true CHF who gives plenty of leads and can become a real key player when moving forward. Has good endurance and agility which is a great combination for any forward these days. Isn't known to be a big goal kicker and can chip in when needed.
#46 - Adelaide
Jimmy Webster
186 / 71 / 93
Recruited From: Glenorchy
Bio: Love this kid and expect him to go much higher in the draft mainly because of his impressive draft combine where he scored well in the sprints, endurance and skill sets. Outside running midfielder who can break the lines with his pace and his kicking is laser like.
#47 - Brisbane Lions
Ben Brown
199 / 90 / 92
Recruited From: Devonport
Bio: Was unlucky not to get drafted last year after a promising champ series but broke his leg and no one wanted to take the chance. But thankfully he came back and continued to play great footy. He's a ruckman/forward who's got great skills below his knees, can take a great mark and his tap work is accurate.
#48 - Geelong
Myles Bolger
199 / 80 / 93
Recruited From: South Fremantle
Bio: Will be a big steal if taken at this pick. He's the best tap ruckman on this draft but the downside for him is that he needs to get more involved in the midfield/possession work because his disposal efficiency is great and he can take a mark so clubs will want to see more of him and be able to play in more than one position. Has had some injury troubles in the past so it's a risk/reward pick.
- Not including the five round because i'm not exactly sure who will get upgrade by each club.
Enjoy!
