Yep. No point spending big $ on a retractable roof just for 1 international fixture each year, but it needs to be good enough for CT to be happy for the Canes to player there.

Well, it is primarily an AFL/multi-purpose stadium. So, cricket believes it won't fit their purpose, it's their prerogative. Whilst support is split the energy that's building from this venture is undeniable. Personally, with reservations I'd prefer to have a government that leads rather than follows. I've always said if you're not upsetting someone, you're probably doing nothing.

If Cricket Tas ever want to increase revenue from gate takings, then they need to move. NINJA is at capacity. Any more and and you never be able to ever leave the place.

There are a lot of smart people in the world. I am sure they can solve the issues with the shadows.

They don’t pack Ninja out unless it’s finals. On average they are half full.

A lot of foundation memberships sold, A lot of opposition clubs/supporters have supported the course for Tasmania to get thier own team, if the Tassie Govenment fumbles this and they say no to the Stadium deal than they will never get another chance to have an AFL team.

Look how long it took to come this far.

It would be interesting to understand their view from the Tasmanian government after their tour of Adelaide Oval. They would be foolish to reject this opportunity.

It's not the government. They are all for the stadium, as is the Labor opposition.

The problem is the combined Labor and Liberal numbers in the upper house aren't enough to get the vote over the line atm. They either have to do well in today's upper house elections or get the vote of a couple of independents (who were the ones touring Adelaide Oval).

If the stadium holds 23k, how many tickets are left over for travelling fans?

How many seated memberships can they sell?
It’s unknown, but they must have seats
available for OPPO fans. It won’t be a problem. I am sure if it goes ahead those numbers would be released at a later date.

Interestingly of the 3 seats up for grabs in Legislative Council election, 2 of the 3 Pro stadium pollies are in good positions to win.
It was all about just how invested the no vote is. It doesn't look super invested, people have other priorities in life than trying to stop a stadium happening.

So how’s it work in getting things approved before the upper house. Is it as simple as 2/3 wins lol

Not necessarily though to be fair I don't know completely how it all works lol.
As far as I know we just didn't need the Pro- stadium pollies like Luke Edmunds losing their seats
Anti - Stadium Meg Webb is ahead in her electorate in Nelson.

2/3 seats were pro-stadium members before the election so nothing has changed.

The Government still has to convince two of the seven independents to support the stadium.

It is a problem as any seat taken from a member is a membership we can’t sell.
Yet on the flip side if we don’t sell tickets to Oppo fans then noone can travel down.

They need to release a membership plan at some point. Potentially will have to cap memberships to only 3 home games so everyone can go atleast 3 times

-23,000 seated capacity, with 1,500 additional spaces offering structured standing options
-1,500 person function room

Surely they could make more standing room at least. 26k capacity feels like we'll have a JackJumpers situation where no one can get a ticket.

That’s right, and they have the best person in Gale to start it. It will happen soon enough.

None. It's going to be the most exclusive ticket in town.

I can't wait for ABC Hobart's first sob story about how they should have made the stadium bigger because average families are being left out.

Considering how much rain affects test matches and other formats of the game, I would have thought cricket would welcome a roof. Most frustrating thing as a cricket fan is play suspended or abandoned due to rain.
As soon as CA see the venue packed for Devils' games and the atmosphere that will go with it, they will want to play every game they can there regardless of whether there is a roof or not.

Well playing a test match under a roof should be a novelty and unique. Can't think of anywhere else in the world where a test match has been played under a roof.

That's the perils of representative democracy... would get approved in a week in Beijing.
It should be able to get through the lower house easily if it gets full support from the Libs and Labor.
Upper house a bit trickier as they'll need to get the vote off someone on the crossbench and to my understanding most independents and the greens have taken the populist angle ... Imagine if fixing healthcare and housing was as simple as not building a stadium.

Well, a lot of the business case for the stadium is based around the tourism value to the broader community so space for traveling fans will probably be higher than you might expect.

Very few locals will have a chance to go to games live either way (unless they can afford premium memberships), so I expect the state/team/AFL will ensure that there is maximum return from mainlanders as possible.

Lower drawing sides will be the best bet for locals to get a seat.

Why must it have a roof? Just play at 2pm Saturday, 1.10pm Sunday during May,June,July, August. Only 6 games, play 4 of first 6 at home each year during March, April.

There needs to be a real push to make the VFL, and AFLW teams having big crowds at the new stadium too, to have the one club, many games mentality, if this is the case.

It must have a roof because the Tasmanian government approached the AFL and said "we will build a new roofed stadium in the CBD if you give us a team", and the AFL said "ok let's put it in writing".

Other relevant information: Rain and wind still exists in the afternoon. It'll be minimum 8 H&A games per year + finals. It will be used for other events that benefit from a roof.
