Hitouts and hitouts to advantage would also be good to see how the ongoing death duel between Seaby and Mumford for the #1 ruck goes for the year.

Where can I get Hitouts to Adv stats?

Some stats tonight:
Clearances 38-24. Kennedy had 9 alone @ 89% efficiency.
Goodes 5 clangers :(
Jack 8 tackles 6 clearances 8 inside 50s (game high)
Reg Grundy 13 contested possessions (game high) Kennedy 12 cont pos
Hanners 3 assists (game high)

Sorry, missed Round 6.

Also on top of Contested Marks. The same argument applies for both - Bradshaw in second is the 'real' leader for Contested Marks, whilst Goodes is for clangers.

Good to see Rohan got 6 tackles, the boy has spirit.

stat_machine you are a disgrace to your name

solid effort grrim

Good point Stat, I might adjust it so that only those who have played 50% of the games so far will be counted.

Yeah, I think that would show a much more accurate spread of stats.

How so?

well, at least now I know why Goodes' SC scores have been so uncharacteristically low. Averaging close to 4 clangers per game? really? I must have a selective memory. And 13 frees against - nearly 2 a game. The umpires have been stitching him up big time. 2 possible reasons come to mind.

1. BBBH is no longer in the team, and they have to ping somebody in red and white.
2. they've heard the criticism from Leigh Matthews etc, and over-reacted.

Frees Against are counted as a clanger so it's kind of like double counting there.

Goodes, despite Leigh Matthews's comments has given away more frees than he's received in 8 of his 11 seasons of AFL football.

Thanks guys.

Some observations:
  • Marks inside 50 stands out like a sore thumb. Bradshaw, who is now missing, has double the number of the second place getter, while McGlynn who has played less than half the games is still 5th in that list! And it's not as if he has an incredibly high number - 7. Where are our forward marking targets?
  • Hannebery is great in-close, he must get some time in the centre-square where I think we're getting beaten week after week.
  • Mumford's 2nd efforts are spectacular - 3.0 clearances and 4.5 tackles, a lot of midfielders would be delighted with those numbers.
  • Kirk's decline highlighted by the fact he's not in the top 5 clearances at the club any more. That would have been unthinkable at the start of the year.
  • Kennedy's disposal is not as 'dodgy' as many people like to think. You don't get 15 assists through poor disposal. Add a team-leading 4.8 clearances and 4.6 tackles and I think we have stolen a beauty from the Hawks.
  • 54 one-percenters by LRT. One-percenters are officially classified as spoils, shepherds, smothers and knock-ons. You can bet your bottom dollar that LRT is leading the team in spoils.

Yeh the Marks inside 50 thing is a big worry. Jesse depp could help that a bit, but also Playfair's strong hands.

I would love to see ROK play deep forward more often so he can use his really strong hands down there to kick some goals. He isn't getting it done in the middle right now (maybe he's hurt maybe he's just out of form) so i would like to see him play as a main forward a bit more, starting like 25m out from the goal square. Would be a big help i reckon to get him playing like he used to get him back in form.

Notable stats today

  • Smashed them in the clearances 56-30 (a new season high, previous was 44)
  • Smashed them in the Inside 50s 62-46
  • Both teams tackled well 93-101 (a new season high, past two weeks were records of 81 and 88)
  • Lewis Jetta's 3 behinds takes his tally to 12 for the season.
  • Jude had what must be the equivalent of basketball's triple double = 36 touches 12 tackles and 11 clearances. Add 4 assists and this is why he finished with a season high 193 SuperCoach points
  • Also 26 contested possessions by Jude, surely some kind of record
  • Terrible disposal efficiency of 62% today. It was a new season low (previous was 67% from last week). Worst culprits were Jetta (20%) Goodes (38%) and Kennedy (44%)
  • Mattner had kicked 5 goals straight before his awful miss today
  • Worst goalkicking efficiency of the season (41.4%). Previous was 46.7%
  • Equal season low of 6 marks inside 50. Averaging just 8.7 marks inside 50 from Rounds 6 to 11 versus 17.4 marks inside 50 from Rounds 1 to 5

Min 50% games for AVG and %cats (= 6 games or more)
Will fill in the TOG% stats when I get hold of them.
