The thing I found with Garlett is that his skills let him down when he was going at top pace. Makes me wonder if he gets into top gear at training much or if he slacks off. Kicking will always be an issue, has not got the greatest kicking technique I've seen but it's not terrible all the same. Recon he aims at the right post when kicking for goal which is fine for most right footers as it allows it to move from right to left. But he needs to learn to aim inside the right post when he's close to goal, boy can he he hit the thing. I don't recon there's been much wrong with his attitude, still chases hard, it's just that our whole move the ball slowly, around the boundry and allow the opposition to get numbers around the play and back in defence and how we were going to the boundry all the time again making it hard for guys at ground level to find space was making it hard for him. Last week against Collingwood was the first time in a long time that we moved the ball up the middle and kicked the ball to our forwards in a more central position and pushed more numbers behind the ball and ran harder from behind the ball (Yarran exceptional) and really opened things up more in our forward half and it was the best Yarran has played in a long time, he has not been the only one to suffer from that crap brand of footy we have played the last two months. Give him time, if we keep playing a good brand of footy and win the clearances he will start getting his hands on it more and then hopefully his skills will come good and then his confidence will follow and stupid rumors will end.

Jeff is a young gun down on confidence and therefore his 'magic' isn't coming off. His defensive pressure has improved significantly over the last 4 weeks - problem is that playing only 5 forwards left too many holes to fill - he has been chasing and gut running for a month in defense. His defensive efforts are under rated in my opinion. In attack he isn't getting the bounce of the ball his way - it will come. When he kicks on or two goals early in a game - he is likely to kick another 4 or 5. Missing from dead in front didn't help last week - shocker. He had the time to stop and kick - it is almost like he has a monkey on his back and rushes.

Worse than the Jeffy rumour.

You were once a semi-important angry midget because of your status as moderator.

Now you're just an angry midget. :p

Get out of my head J! :p

Frog Shit - He has NOT been applying anywhere near sufficient defensive pressure - until last week. His coaches would certainly beg to differ with you!!

If he has a young family then it wouldnt be a strech to imagine he wants to be close to his parents. I used to be all like if he is contracted keep him etc, but getting a bit older i'm more like if you can get a fair deal do it. Happy staff equals more production. Also, good as he is, small forwards are not the hardest position to replace.

Frog shit is where the Club fins itself right now. Football is a team game - bad stuff multiplies - and so does good stuff. I am interested in seeing more good stuff from a Club that has been battered by injury - and had a year pretty much stolen because. We are getting our payer back one by one. The season isn't over. Tomorrow is a big game - and Jeffy is a big game player - what a game for him to click eh?

Was thinking about this earlier , port could use a ruckmen we could use boak and butcher
Thats true however with the news of Warnock putting pen to paper earlier today, offering a ruck man seems unlikely. Maybe a youngster who is currently being starved of opportunities at Carlton, even in the midst of all our injuries in Pat McCarthy? Would be hesitant to let him go, however Boak has so much to offer and would really add another element to our midfield.

I disagree that he has displayed a poor attiduted until last week. Yes, he was off in a few games, but recently he has been working extremely hard with not much reward for his efforts (the ball just hasnt been falling for him, also a few fumbles, etc). Last week, however, he did find alot more of the ball - lets hope that this week he hits the scoreboard as well.

Well, did you see the game against the Hawks? Jeff took a shot at goal and Robinson soccered it through. Jeff had this look on his face like as if to say how dare he not let it bounce through. Fact is, it was going to miss anyway, but that shows me that is the attitude of a guy playing for himself not for his team. And the fumbles over the last couple of months he would not follow up and run back and apply pressure, once he fumbled that was it, he'd give up on the chase or attack on the ball and there were tackles where he'd just get shrugged off. Against the Pies there were a few occasions where he fumbled but this time he was willing to make up for them and go back after the ball.

How you apply yourself has a huge bearing on how you play, he got more of the ball because he worked harder to get into position and he chased harder. He needs to do the same again every week from now on or his form will drop again.

IMO Jeffys biggest problem is that he goes to ground to easy, but his intensity last week was great and something we havent seen for a while. Hopefully tonight he can get a goal on the board early and put some confidence in him to take the game by the throat. We definetly need to have everyone up and running early tonight because North have been very good early in there games lately, the last thing we want is for them to jump us and our players to lose the confidence they got out of last weeks game..

Don't think we have too much of an issue with Garlett - just down on form but he will turn it around.

More concerned about getting Yaz signed up now. He is a very important piece to our premiership puzzle.

Garlett looks like he has turned the corner, remember back the the end of the home and away season last year? He was in shit form and absolutely turned it on early vs Essendon with those two incredibly tight goals from the boundary. It can change very quickly

Remember it well BB. Have been hoping for that every week in the last 2 months and have no doubt it will happen.

All he needs is a nice handball over the top and then run into a open goal to get his mojo back. At the moment he is missing the early shots and that is playing havoc with his confidence.

If its been done why wait? Jay Clarke did tweet Sticks was chatting to Gavin Brown maybe he was talking to him about his game plan. I am only joking about what they were talking about but it could be funny I guess if true. Last week & this week reminds me of other clubs in similar situations who play a game which looks like they are playing for the coach then defend him and say he will be there for good only to look disinterested the following week. Similar to Essendon when they beat Norh jobe came out in support of Knights then bang he gets the sack.
