I do remember when Roeder was sacked a vast majority saying what a correct move it was and how tripe Roeder was.

Ha. I had a lot of time for Roeder, but I was dead against appointing Allardyce right from the start. Therefore I reserve my right to say that he is a shit person and shit manager. Easily one of the biggest shits in football. We need a big name manager if we think we are a big name club.

Look how Man City are going atm with SGE. Why couldn't we have got a manager like him? (And before you say look how SGE did with England - look how McClaren did. SGE wasn't so bad after all, much like Roeder surely doesn't look so bad to the "vast majority" now) SGE is giving their skilled players a chance to....use their skills! and they are 3rd in the Premiership! Alladyce is playing shit football and guess what - we are a shit team. No point having the quality we have in our squad if you tell them to play the way Allardyce is telling them to atm.

You must agree that it is very hard to defend where we are at atm. Even if you subscribe to Roeder's faults we would be where we are in the league playing proper football, not being bored out of our skins and frustrated as hell like now.

Absolutely. Because the vast majority usually have no idea.

If not for Martins we'd have been relegated last year - and no thanks to the duds he inherited from Souness or the complete lack of support from Shepherd who was clearly looking for Roeder to just tread water while Shearer got his badges/the desire to take the job.

When you consider no Shearer (or a replacement), no Owen and no money, Roeder did fantastically well - and his statistics are testament to that.

There was never anything wrong with his style of play.

The critical error was we had no-one already lined up. Allardyce said no. Bruce said no. McClaren said no. Souness said "are you serious?!, LOL OK" as he was weeks away from the chop at Blackburn.

Hey, I was one that was disappointed when we gave Glenn Roeder the boot, I always had a lot of time for him, and still do. I'm now following Norwich in the CCC because he is there.

Not sure that any big name manager in thei right mind would wanna come to SJP the way some of the fans carry on though. Very passionate bunch up here, and theres nothing wrong with that, but they take it too far. A number of the people left the game early on Saturday, not just because we were playing pathetic football, but because they couldn't stand the boo-boys.

Remember the start of the year we had? If you look around on some of the Toon forums BSA was a hero, now he's not. The next two matches will do it for me, the away trip to Blackburn and the home match against Arsenal.

If we play good football, but still lose I'll probably stay with BSA because at least its an improvement on what we've been doing.

If we play shit football again I'll be on his back like the majority. He's a very good manager, and showed his credentials at Bolton, but at the minute he's not getting any support off his players and obviously thinks he's still at Bolton.

Players take time adapting when they change clubs, how is it any different for managers?

SGE is an excellent manager, always has been and always will be. He was my number 1 replacement for Glenn Roeder.

He knows we're not playing good, he knows we're under pressure. That might be the reason why he kept the players locked in the dressing room for 90 minutes after the match on Saturday and a reason why he might have called an emergency training session on Sunday.

Ruud Gullit (Lee, Pearce, Shearer) and Graeme Souness (Bellamy, Robert, Jenas) actively sought to lose the dressing room. The former was after generational change and the latter was actually given a mandate by Shepherd to wield a big stick, with failure being the result.

Roeder (Luque, Luque, Luque) always carried the stigma of West Ham with him and never really got the proper support of anyone, seen as either a crap manager with too quiet a personality or Shepherd's lapdog in equal measure.

Robson on the other hand was too old and had been there too long. As soon as Kieron refused the armband in the middle of the conjunctivitis outbreak that was that - I'd like to think dropping Shearer to the bench at Villa Park (citing resting him from playing 3 games in 8 days) was a coinkydink.

There's certainly merit to what you're getting at in general - he's had a bad handful of results after a promising start and that's to be expected at any club, so pulling the trigger would be madness.

But...

I cannot remember a time when there was so little light at the end of the tunnel. Even under the Souness reign, you could see he was tightening the defence and getting rid of some bad apples so there was always that hope there.

Under Roeder he had us playing some good footy, got us into Europe and always had the promise of Owen and 50000 other injured players to come back to full fitness.

But under Big Sam, in this last period, we have played ridiculously shit and with no heart, no spirit, no nothing. And it's his signings which have been the main culprits.

Cacapa's performance against Pompey, dodgy hamstring or not.
Faye's gifting of the corner which lead to the goal at mackemland.
Alan Smith.
Geremi.

He simply can't use the excuse of inheriting a bad bunch or not getting the backing of the chairman in the transfer market.

Nevertheless. Say we'll be more positive and give him time to get over this hump. Let's assume that Duff, Owen, Martins, Viduka, Barton and Emre find their peak fitness and best form - then what?

Well theres talk BSA wont get too much money but he was at Anfield on Wednesday night having a good hard look at Bruno Alves.

We really only need one player, this player must be a creative central midfielder.

Other than that we're pretty much set. Shocking run atm, most sides will have one throughout the year. I saw enough in our performance yesterday to suggest that there is some good to come though.

Arsenal on Wednesday - A similar performance would see me happy.

Birmingham next Saturday - Nothing but a win is acceptable.

Fulham the Saturday after - Away from home, which leads me to think that I'd be happy with a point, but then I realise its Fulham.

Derby at home - Gotta be a win, and a convincing one at that.

Wigan away - See above

Theres plenty of winnable fixtures coming up.

We are garbage and will be relegated if BSA continues this trollop. We have possibly the worst back 4 in the PL and the most bland midfield who have no creative ability what so ever.

I am certain that we will be fighting relegation if BSA continues, we are just a pathetic bunch of coksuckers. With Oba going to the Africans cup along with a few others (good riddance Geremi) we will have a squad as deep as the kiddies pool at my local.

Although I liked our style much better today their where still so many things that puzzled me. Why the *** was Oba on the right?? what was Alan Smith doing starting (Smith didnt play to badly) over Viduka?? for fuks sake we have a capable LB in Enrique who sits on the bench and we persist with having zog play that full back role, Zog is the only player we have besides Oba who can beat defenders one on one and has a bit of creativity and zip.

No offence but 3 months ago Toon fans were raving to anyone who would listen about how geat Fat Sam had done in the transfer window signing all thest guns for peanuts. 3 months later and alot of them are proving why they came cheap and arnt putting in the performances. I think Fat Sam sold the right players (probably should of kept Parker cos you didnt really replace him) but apart from Viduka alot of his signings bombed. Not enough prem experience.

Newcasytle should of been in there chasing players like Leighton Baines, SHorey, Distin, Ben Haim etc, some more prem experience. Not a single member of your new defence had prem experience did they? It shows

Anyone believe footballers of high quality would want to play for Shearer?? I believe some of Englands best would be lining up to pull on the jersey. Owen and Shearer are chums so that would ensure he stays (which could be either great or terrible), we have seen the Roy Keane do fantasticaly well at Sunderland his team plays with alot of grit and passion, I believe big Al would demand the same.

To me ATM our guys look disoriented on the field, we have zero cohesion and it is damn worrying. I am happy to give BSA until Feb/March to pull us out of the rot but surely by then if we are no better than 10th he will have to go.

People asking for Shearer to take over are making a stupid move.... on some forums i visit they slate Sam but then would take Shearer who has no proven managerial record whatsoever! Seems ridiculous that we would go down that path of getting an unproven manager!

As has been said a majority were happy with getting Sam on board but have no changed their tune big time. Yes some selections have been made were we have all questioned them but i still think Sam can do the job starting with Arsenal on Wednesday.

I am sticking with Big Sam.

I beleive he was the best man for the job, I beleive he will turn it around, but what do people expect from us this campaign? He was handed a sinking Roeder ship with player turmoil, bad debts etc, etc.

I say a top half finish (still very possible), our new recruits will have the experience of the Premier League, guys like Rozenhal, Beye, Faye, Enrique are no mugs and will prove their quality sooner rather than later.

Over expectations is what kills this club. Give Sam time, are we not 11th? The carry on is like we are being relegated!

Dont buy into the English Press because they dont value their lives, so why trust what they say. Absolute tripe day in day out is getting published.

I have been to Newcastle and followed the club since I was 12, have alot of friends over there to and I like alot of people are getting jack of the performances of the club from the past 4-5 years, its the people who live in the city that hurt the most. Dude Newcastle as a city is NUFC crazy, they are the best supporters and will pack out the stadium rain hail and shine, they are also some of the harshest supporters in the world but tell me this what other football club in the world get 50k to every game they play yet still finish reguarly in the bottom half of the table?? we/they the supporters deserve just a little bit more than having Pompey and Blackburn putting 3 and 4 past us and losing to the likes of Derby and Reading without even really threatning a shot on goal.

This is true, although i too thought we would be a bit higher up in 9th by this stage i still think a top 10 finish is what we need to finish off this season and continue into the next season and improve on this. We are only 9 points from 6th place and we havent done much in the last 5 games still!

Well I currently AM in Newcastle and have followed the club since I was a little nipper. I've had many conversations with the locals over here, some agree, some dont. Thats the thing with OPINIONS.
