Gouffran off for Perez and play 4-4-2, need another striker on I reckon. Hull sitting back so we should control the midfield.

Maybe he has his confidence back?

Shame we couldn't win it but a decent fight back.

Much,much more promising and positive performance than I dared hope for.
Got to wonder what goes on in the dressing room?Are the players picking themselves up despite Pussdew?
Seemed chalk and cheese for me from last week to this for drive,ambition,confidence etc.
Weird maybe it's just their professional pride was stung??All a bit hard to follow and I'm very reluctant to credit Pussdew but maybe the players have some perverse respect for him?
Unfathomable we are for me at the minute.
Four biggest positives:a point,Papiss,Cheick,team spirit.

Yep, not sure what to make of it - surely if the player's didn't want to play for Pardew, they wouldn't have tried to salvage something from the game.

Admittedly, it would have been harsh on Pardew. We dominated possession and had a stack of more challenges than Hull and found ourselves 2-0 down to 2 quality goals.

Maybe it was a case of the players wanting to do it for Jonas? They came out with shirts supporting him and Cisse even revealed his shirt after both goals. Perhaps it could be a case of the players wanting to take some pride (as they should) in their own performances despite the turmoil at the club?

Will be interesting to see where things go from here - 2 tricky away games to come at Stoke and Swansea (plus a mid week league cup game against Palace this week). I'll be looking to see what team we play - will Pardew take the cup seriously knowing it might win over some fans? Or will he rest key players to try and get everyone fit and ready for 2 crucial games for his future career (while we're still planted at the bottom of the table).
 
It's a funny thing, before the game, I wanted to lose to try and force Pardew out but even then, I still got sucked into wanting the team to win. I thought I'd cheer a Hull goal but I couldn't find it in myself. Even when we got back to 2-2, I wanted us to go on and win it. Very confusing! :confused:

I guess it's a case of 'support the team, not the regime'.

From what I saw of him on the weekend, he didn't look too worried at all :confused:


Also, here's what the SackPardew folk had to say after the game - a real shame that the club stopped the protest from probably being more effective.


Firstly, and most importantly, thank you to all the supporters who backed our campaign before and during the match with Hull City yesterday.

Prior to kick-off our group of volunteers distributed more than 20,000 SackPardew.com flyers and over 100 banners, with many people who wanted the latter turned away as we did not have enough to meet demand. The support we received before the game has left us in no doubt that a majority of fans share our view that Alan Pardew is not fit to manage Newcastle United, with the response in our multiple locations almost entirely positive.

We would also like to thank Britannia Banners of Wallsend for their exceptionally hard work, the proprietors of the pubs that allowed us to display and distribute our material, the Newcastle fans at PrintNE for their incredible generosity and the media outlets who have allowed us to shine a spotlight on Pardew’s disgraceful performance since the summer of 2012. We have noticed a sea-change in the tone of discussion about Newcastle United in the media in the two weeks since our website was created, with far more focus on the manager and his record now apparent. As this was our primary aim when we started, we are delighted to have had such an influence in such a short space of time.


Regretfully, the vote of no confidence in the manager was not as visible as we had hoped within the stadium. Despite the club’s prior assertion that non-offensive protest material is allowed into the ground, a vastly increased number of stewards were confiscating banners and flyers on turnstiles and placing them into black bags, many of which were full to bursting by kick off. Stewards were also seen to remove material within the stadium itself. We were nevertheless extremely pleased to see many fans who did manage to get banners and flyers into the ground stand with us and demand change, and we hope these fans will stand with us again soon.

We are also well aware that there are a large number of supporters who do not wish to protest in any form within St. James’ Park. That is their prerogative, however with the team currently bottom of the Premier League and one of only three in the division who have failed to win a single game, we are more certain than ever that Alan Pardew’s continued employment is a serious danger to both the short and long term future of Newcastle United Football Club. Therefore we will not stop until either this employment has been terminated, or until Pardew gives the club a chance to remain in the top flight by offering his resignation. To this end, we will continue undeterred in our efforts, invigorated by the fantastic local, national and international support we have been given to date.

A more comprehensive response to Saturday will be released in due course, after we have made contact with the club, local council and Northumbria Police.
 
I read that Cisse wasn't medically cleared to play and Pardew ignored them and he played anyway. From what I understand he was very proud to tell the media that. To me this is absolutely ridiculous that a manager could overrule medical staff like that. The guy was coming back from a broken knee cap and had only trained for 5 days! I know a player is always happy to get out there but that is absolutely selfish from Pardew, he knew his job was on the line.

Yeah heard that myself! Geez, imagine if Cisse had of gone down with injury and that was revealed he wasn't fit to play...

Cisse saved Pardew's blushes on the weekend for sure.

I hope Pardew doesn't see it as vindication to continue with the 1 striker up front though. Cisse struggled when he had to lead the line solo when we flirted with relegation 2 seasons ago. Like Riviere, I don't think he can hold the ball up for prolonged periods without support.

Also, when are we going to stop sending Willo forward at set pieces. It's the worst tactic ever! Send Williamson forward, aim for him and end result is nothing. So predictable and ineffective :confused:

What was the atmosphere like? On tv, the 5th minute protest looked a bit subdued/not as vocal as I was expecting it to be. Saw a lot of reports though that the stewards were under orders to try and confiscate as many banners/posters as they could.

Didn't seem as toxic as I was expecting - even when we were 2-0 down.

Yeah, certainly seemed pretty anticlimactic on the TV, even when they went 1-0 up, there wasn't a massive outpouring of boos.

At 2-0, it definitely seemed to be on a knife edge, I think if the players had gone back into their shells and sat back, maybe the boos might have intensified but the team seemed to keep trying to chase the game. I think that was the best we've played all season and maybe that's why the fans didn't get on the players/Pardew's back as much as they wanted to try and encourage the team.

I'm curious to see where the SackPardew movement goes from here. I don't think a 2-2 draw at Home to Hull should make us all forget our horrendous 2014 form but the fact the players digged deep to salvage a draw suggested there is some pride/passion there and at least publicly, the players seem to back Pardew.
 
I will never back or be satisfied with Pussdew.His track record of stupidity and arrogance is far too embedded in my mind.Neither will I ever be content and accepting of Cashley due to his treatment of the fans,players and former employees.
They are key position players in the club I support and so it's all a bit ambiguous but both must function to some degree of competence for us to remain in the EPL this season.
My ambitions for them and the club go no further than the end of this season which I will count as being blazingly successful if we avoid relegation,player and fan revolt and both Cashley and Pussdew depart.
New coach and owner for 2015 would be my goal.
 
The problem is, any manager is going to have the same restrictions when it comes to the squad while MA is there. That said, this squad is good enough for top 10 so anything less than that by December should hopefully see Pardew out the door.

I have nothing against him as a person, I think he tries his best in the situation, but there are definitely better options out there.
 
I reckon any manager that is offered the job (assuming Pardew is sacked) would be mad not to negotiate to have a clause in their contract where they can have control over player signings and whatever else restrictions Ashley's imposed. No doubt Pardew has to try and do a job with one hand tied behind his back but it's just his constant lies and excuses that wear thin on the fan's patience.

I mean anyone remember him saying this in July during our NZ tour?

And Pardew said: "We've pitched in and signed players that we think give us a chance to push for Champions League.

"We've already shown we are much better covered offensively than we were after Yohan Cabaye's departure.

"We have options, more options to come in and it's going to strengthen my hand to tactically change the team."

"If you don't make the Champions League, then the big teams come in for your players - look at Southampton."



compare that to after the Hull game:



Unlike, Pardew’s no show at the written Press conference at Southampton he did emerge on Saturday night to speak to the handful of journalists that have not been banned.

And he outlined what the aims for the season are.

He said: “I think our fans are realistic – they know the top six is beyond us.

“We can’t compete with those clubs at the moment.

“But we should be competing for seventh, eighth, ninth, 10th, 11th, we have proven that we can do that in the past."

So in the space of 5 games, we've gone from 'pushing/aiming for the CL' to 'wanting to be happy to compete for 11th'. I'm sorry but it's just so disheartening to see how far the club has fallen. We've been overtaken by the likes of Swansea, Stoke and even Southampton...that club that was gutted at the end of last season is sitting 2nd in the table! Villa, a team who have struggled recently right up there with them in 3rd. Take out City and we've played Soton, Villa, Hull and Palace (none of the traditional big boys in that group) and find ourselves propping up the table. We're a shambles :(
 
Apparently Krul, Gouffran and Cisse are all 'sick' and will miss the Palace Cup game tomorrow (probably just our usual 'rest players because we don't take the cups seriously' strategy) :rolleyes:

Wouldn't mind seeing Curtis Good, Haidara, Abeid, Sammy Ameobi (who Pardew says his toon career is in danger) and Perez all given starts. Would be nice to see Riviere play next to a partner too to see what he can do. Did some good things on the weekend against Hull but needs confidence as he's fluffed a few chances to date.
