But Athletico would still have to agree to it wouldn't they?
They only just bought him for 40 if I recall correctly and he has been tearing it up so a 6mil profit wouldn't be worth it

40 million Euro, so only 32 million pounds

a release clause is a release clause. you hit it it releases them. falcao can turn down the contract but it's relatively straight-forward.

the actual release clause varies. i've seen it quoted as 28 mil up to 48 mil (pounds).

So if a club offers the value of the release clause, Athletico can't say no?

not usually no. there's some special cases that im sure have occurred but this seems to be a straight up hit the release clause you can immediately offer the player a contract. the club cannot dictate the fee once the clause has been hit. falcao can still choose to reject the incoming contract and stay at atletico, but i doubt it.

Have you seen Messi's new release clause? €312m. You could buy a small country for that.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere, maybe about Kun Aguero's release clause, that they don't actually stand for a whole lot. Especially not in Spain.

ronaldo's is 1 billion euros

Sterling has signed a 5 year deal @30k / week increasing every year depending on appearances / goals / assists etc etc. Glad the club stood firm on the wages side of things.

No he hasn't.

It only says he is set to sign.

Would rather him to Mourinho tbh. Mourinho won't be there for more than a few years if he does sign. I reckon we could build the club around Pepe more

The rumour is the board is against Mourinho as well and would prefer Pep.

Pep is the better option, and hoefully he can bring a couple of Barca players over here:p haha.

Chelsea will push hard for Pep though, wouldn't suprise me to see him go there. Wouldn't mind Mourinho to be honest but Pep is clearly the best option out there to take over United when SAF retires.

You're the hoe.

Pep won't go to Chelsea. The place is a managers circus. No self respecting manager chooses that job.

Me too(I want 'TSO' back but), he's the one that Roman wants.

To get him though RA would have to give him complete control and I can't see this happening. I think he'll end up at City if you guys don't win the PL.

I'd love to see Arsenal go for Pepe. He could do wonders with that team and some of money. Could easily bring some of the lesser known Barca players there too.

Same difference. Both he and the club have agreed to the terms (as reported by all major news outlets and several other reputable sources), and will sign as soon as the papers are drawn up.

Regarding the club 'standing firm' WorldCup2022OZ, Raheem himself tweeted that he couldn't believe the headlines when it was reported by The Daily Mail that he was asking for £50k/week and that he "would never have asked for such a ridiculous amount". I don't think the figure ever would have been too far from the £30k/week he's ended up with.
