like i said, i dont think the ref can really do that.....
so idk what city fans are complaining about

Technically the ref should do that. The rules don't allow the ref to add delay full time because of the current state of play.

However extra time is always a minimum of .... so there is flexibility there.

My complaint is the a few weeks after that match Atkinson reffed a game, there was a goal and a sub and he played less added time than the minimum announced at the game. Haven't checked it myself but believe the ball was in play for less than 2 of the 4 minutes added time announced in the Manchester derby last December. Atkinson was the ref for that game.

It's the inconsistency that pisses people of.

some real transfer news

we've apparently been offered benzema

would take if he can get his shit together. been unfit and off focus for madrid. still lethal and heading into his prime however. the kinda guy we really lack. would take he or villa in a heartbeat.

Tottenham just hate selling star players to rival PL clubs, Modric was a clear example. I just can't see Tottenham entertaining the idea of Bale joining Man United, we certainly won't be the only team after him, you can be sure Madrid, Barca, City, Bayern etc will all be after his signature, and all those clubs can outbid us.

Can't see Barcelona being interested. Wouldn't fit in at all.

Don't know what to think of Michael Owen's retirement to be honest.

Gave me some of my best memories as a Liverpool supporter including the memorable 2000/01 treble campaign in which he played a pivotal role, it's impossible to forget those 2 last minute goals he scored to beat Arsenal in the 2001 FA Cup final. One of the best strikers and arguably best players in the world at his peak, he was scoring for fun at both domestic and international level during the late 90's/early 00's. Winning the golden boot in his 1st season and coming 4th in the FIFA World Player of the Year award as well as being named the Young Player of the Tournament at the 98 World Cup as an 18 year old, before winning the Ballon D'or at the age of 21 were just extraordinary achievements when you think back on them, everyone thought it was written in stone that he was going to go on to become a great. It's a shame how dramatically his career plummeted from that point on, his short lived spell at Madrid was spent as a backup option to Ronaldo and Raul and after a series of serious injuries he was never able to regain the form he showed at Liverpool. I'd stop short of calling his career unfulfilled because of how much he achieved at such an early age, but I'm sure he has asked himself the question of what he could done if his legs had held together for a few more years.

As for the obvious issue of his later career, I wasn't exactly thrilled about him joining United but I can't bring myself to resent him for it. Given his form and injury record in the previous few seasons I'm sure he would have been happy to sign with anyone, United coming in for him would have been far more than he would have hoped for and from a professional point of view there was no way he could turn that offer down.

Xabi Alonso has refused a contract extension. Any possibility that he will cut his wage and come back to Anfield? (wishing)
Im hoping and praying.

I know he loves the club, still has a lot of ties at the club and in the city. He has said in the media the first result he looks for is LFC. Hopefully he can see the young exciting manager playing pass and move football. Can obviously give Stevie, Carra, GJ, Agger etc etc a call and ask what's the go. Would love him to come back and finish off his career with us.

It wont happen but if he miraculously came back to LFC next season. I guarantee we finish top 4. He's that good.

Finish top 4 like you were meant to every other year?

Schurrle to Chelsea rumours are starting again, with Bayer Leverkusen wanting de Bruyne as part of the deal. Not sure how I feel about this as I don't want to lose Kevin, but we have a few already in his position and Schurrle would be handy.

de bruyne is better.

de bruyne is better.

Agree with this but following on from what chef said it depends what sort of player Chelsea want/need. De Bruyne will return to Chelsea and be competing with £70m worth of talent already occupying the three #10 roles behind the striker, if he's happy to spend a lot of time on the bench then Chelsea would be stupid to move him on because he'd be perfect as backup to Hazard, Oscar and Mata. Schurrle on the other hand offers something different, he's a forward who can play out wide or up front with a far more direct style than De Bruyne or the others I've mentioned and he would definitely bring another dimension to Chelsea's attack.

Unless they shift out Torres and bring in Falcao or Cavani (at the prices being quoted it seems unlikely) I think that's the sort of versatile forward they should be looking for, someone who's capable of playing multiple positions through attack, gets involved in the build up play and has the ability to put goals away. I've heard Jovetic being linked to Chelsea as well and I think he'd also be ideal.

Apparently Xabi gets around £75k p/w at Real.

Forget pay cut, I would give the man a pay rise to bring him back.

An aging Alonso is better than that Allen bloke, right? But can't see it happening, he'll stay in Spain somewhere else

As much as I love Xabi and what he did for our club, he's 31 and will be nearly 33 by the time his contract at Madrid expires which is when I'm assuming he'd be looking to move on. I think we should be looking for the next Xabi Alonso, not trying to recreate our side from 6 years ago. Besides, we've played Gerrard in that deep-lying playmaker role alongside Lucas this season to great effect and it looks as though that's where he'll be spending the last few years of his career, so unless we're going to be benching Gerrard I can't see any point in bringing back Alonso, what we need in midfield is a goalscoring, creative #10 to fill the hole where Gerrard used to play and a back up option for Lucas at holding midfield.

Strootman thanks

I reckon they'll just keep loaning him out for the moment. It's too early to let him go already, but it's probably also too early to bring him back. I don't know if he'll ever be good enough for Chelsea but going by his progress this season, chances are he will. And De Bruyne himself won't want to sit on the bench either. He's happy for the moment in Germany, even though Bremen are having a horrible season.

He's also a player I don't think Chelsea have at the moment. Hazard is more of a dribbler, while De Bruyne has a much better vision and his passing ability is just outstanding. Very clever player also considering his age.

yeh right lol

Not sure if serious.

I have read that De Bruyne has stopped taking german language classes, though not sure if true or not. Also read around the time he signed for Bremen that he regretted signing for chelsea. Will be interesting to see what he decides to do in the upcoming transfer window, would have him at Arsenal.

some of the de bruyne passes are just ridiculous.

i really like this article on him.
