Dejan Lovren (Croatian CB from Lyon, linked with us over the last few months) just started following Liverpool FC on twitter. Interesting. The only other clubs he follows are Lyon and Bayern Munich.

I'd say that probably means we can add him to the likes of Papadopoulos (Schalke), Alderweireld (Ajax) & Tiago Ilori (Sporting Lisbon) on the list of CB's we're looking at to replace Carragher. I'd be happy with any of them to be honest.

i bet most of them arent even in LFC's sights

Signing someone like Coutinho gives ya a bit of confidence in Rodgers' ability to spot a good buy in the continent, not just buying his ol' mates at Swansea or local British talent (with the exception of Sturridge which was an excellent buy)

The players that are gonna best suit his system will be from aboard, and they'll be cheaper, too.

Media links us to so many players most of them i doubt we would consoder.
Papa is gd the rest not so much

These are pretty reliable sources all saying the same thing with regards to these targets. I don't see why Liverpool wouldn't be interested in them, we desperately need 1 new CB (maybe 2 depending on where Rodgers sees Kelly's future) in the summer and these are the best realistically available targets. I'd be more surprised if we weren't looking at them! Ilori would be brought in as backup, he's 19/20, has broken into Sporting's 1st team and has a lot of potential but he still has a bit of developing to do before he's ready to play week in/week out in the PL. The other 3 are ready-made top quality CB's, I'd be very happy with any of them playing alongside Agger next season.

Yeah id be pleased with any of them to be honest. Probably Papadopoulos first as I think he has the biggest ceiling. Lovren and Alderweireld next up. Ilori is young, wouldnt play right away.

Benitez told Spanish radio Onda Cero: 'What I am sure about is that next season Chelsea will be much better because they will spend £100m and they will sign three or four players.

'The foundation is already there. The future is bright for them'.

Cavani, Schurrle, Fellaini and Shaw please.

Coutinho has definitely been a great buy for you guys but was always a talented player even at Inter.

Good to see other clubs looking abroad though for new players - in time, may help reduce the inflation of English players who are hugely overpriced.

Apparently we are going to battle Southampton for Cheikhou Kouyate from Anderlecht. Can play as a CB or DM and is an international colleague of Cisse for Senegal. 23 years old and apparently was on Arsenal's radar earlier. Could be a possible replacement for Colocinni if he leaves in the offseason.

English players will always be inflated. They're home grown and also proven to handle the english conditions and style of game. Less risk than a foreign player.

Monaco have reportedly made bids for both Victor Valdes and Dani Alves

Think that's generally right but as they say, more risk sometimes means more reward. It's definitely harder to find good foreign players who can adapt to the EPL but when you find one, they normally are better value than their English counterparts. Definitely a lot of quality players out there but also a lot who wouldn't be suited to the EPL's style.
