After the 2011 U21 Euros when Mata was named player of the tournament after dominating in a similar fashion to Isco, he moved to Chelsea for £23.5m. In the 2010/11 season preceding that tournament he scored 9 goals and recorded 18 assists in all comps for Valencia.

This season Isco has scored 12 goals and recorded 6 assists in all comps for Malaga. I think it's reasonable to expect that they'd sell for similar amounts, Isco maybe slightly more taking the rapid inflation of transfer fees over the last 5-10 years into account.

Hughes wants Roque Santa Cruz (shock horror)

Southampton look most likely to get Victor Wanyama.

Garry Cook is a lot of things, but he got it spot on when he talked about Hughes being in a comfort zone with players he knew.

Doesn't look like we'll be getting Cavani, neither will Chelsea by the comments of De Laurentis. We've told him we'll not meet the buyout.

Cheeky twat then apparently also wants to buy Dzeko on the cheap.

Sky reporting that Liverpool and Sunderland have agreed a fee for Mignolet.

I know he's said he'll stay but I reckon that's Reina out. Can't see either of them happy to sit on the bench, and they're going to end up paying a decent amount for Mignolet.

surely cavani is going to be the galactico signing now that levy has guaranteed avb that bale won't be sold.

at 54 million it's just not happening from either us or chelsea.
Manchester City refuse to meet £54m buy-out clause for Edinson Cavani, say Napoli

"Manchester City do not have money to pay for Cavani because they say we won't pay that," De Laurentiis said on Friday.
"Abu Dhabi (City's owners) say they would never pay 63m euros (£54m) for Cavani

Still think we are going to be desperate enough for a CF to over pay for someone(Rooney, step on down) while Madrid will probably pick up Suarez cheaper.

Our meeting is with Napoli on Monday or Tuesday now apparently

Kind of hoping we pull out and spend the money else where.

Reina will surely go if Mignolet comes in.

He'll definitely leave if Barça come in for him (quotes from him saying if a 'certain club' wanted him he would consider moving but if not he wanted to stay at LFC) but all the noise from their end is that Valdes will be seeing out the final year of his contract and if so they won't be making an offer for Reina until next summer. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out. Either way I like the strong, proactive stance the club are taking with this. They're not waiting for Reina or Barça to make their minds up and they've obviously identified Mignolet as the man to eventually replace Reina so they are securing him before he moves elsewhere.

We could conceivably find ourselves in the same situation we were in when Reina arrived at the club, when he and Dudek (on the back of winning us a CL final) were competing for the same spot for a year before Dudek moved on. It wouldn't be a bad position to be in and one of the biggest criticisms leveled at Reina has been that he has never had any serious competition for his spot. I don't think either will be thinking about sitting on the bench to begin with to be honest because both will be starting the season with the belief that they should be our #1.

In other news Luis Alberto has passed his medical and will be announced as a Liverpool player shortly, very talented and capable of playing as a midfielder/winger/false 9, had a huge season on loan with Barça B last season (11 goals and a league high 18 assists in 38 games) and the general consensus from several Spanish journalists is that he would be starting at any club in La Liga outside Barça & Madrid. I'm guessing there will be a press conference where he, Toure, Mignolet, Aspas and with any luck Mkhitaryan will all be unveiled in the next fortnight.

Some reports saying we have agree personal terms with Thiago but there could be late interest from Bayern and Chelsea.

If we have agreed personal terms then obviously the next step is offering the ridiculously low buy out.

Would be an excellent purchase for Spurs. Looking likely, I believe Corinthians have confirmed they're in talks with Spurs.

Apparently fee has been accepted, 17 mill, however won't decide until after confed cup. Fom what I have read he sounds superb however I have never seen him play.

if he had signed for madrid it would most definitely be in papers other than madrid papers that are notorious for saying anything to make real look the dogs bollocks. malaga journalists have been saying he's off to city, guys like graham hunter say he's off to city, respected spanish papers are saying he's off to city (El Confidencial).

isco has played under pellegrini, has nothing but praise for him, would get much more playing time with us and still be surrounded with a strong spanish contingent. madrid dont even have a manager yet.

£17m does sound high on the face of it, however from what I've seen of him, he would suit Spurs beautifully. Would slot straight into your midfield, and with Madrid and Roma apparatly lurking for his signature, this would be an excellent piece of business for Spurs.

Yeah, they do. It's just not official yet(plus they would rather wait for him to be free rather than buy his freedom).
