I'm not for bagging the umpries, but gee tonight was bad. Consistantly one way. Just ****ed the game, was ugly to watch for nutural and Carlton supporters and hurts the game of Australian Rules Football.

May not have influenced the result of the game but it was an absolute disgrace.

They just didnt shut up tonight. 'Spesh the bald one. Very fustrating even for a neutral. Cant imagine what you guys have to bear thru.

Spin a guy in a tackle 360+ no free....
Bower getting slapped in the head twice in the D50 then still a little groggy gets the ball and coughs it up....
Ruckman trying to work around Sandilands... "you're not going for the contest"...

That's the home ground advantage we could of had next week...

Are Fremantle the new Essendon?
Faaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.
Only paid frees one way. McBurnie should follow McLaren.

TBH I think it might have. The umpires just throwing out an infinite amount of frees to Freo when the game was there to be won. Then we had to fight our way back which is never good

We gave away too many silly Free's. If we're first to the ball we get those calls in our favour. We just weren't hard at it enough for the first three quarters. Simple.

Never thought we were going to win with McBurney and Razor Ray, but still staggered with the goals from free kicks the Shockers got. Consistency next time please.

We cop the raw end of the stick every match, I wouldn't complain to much. The umpiring overall this year has been far too inconsistent and will continue to be as long as Gieschen runs the joint.

Probably cost us about 4 goals, plus a lot of momentum, especially in the first 1/2. Bizarrely bad umpiring. They had 7 shots on goals from frees by the 5 minute mark of the 2nd. We had zero. No matter. Would be very unlucky to get umpiring that bad again this year. It also seems to be illegal to out-tap Sandilands. Plus I've learnt that if your a small Freagle forward, you can spin in a tackle over 360 degrees without getting penalized. Saw 4 of those little gems.

:)

Seems to always be a few 50 metres against us that give the opposition freebie goals, we must be undisciplined..... It was just too inconsistent, all over the ground. I lol'd when Eddie's backhand tap was called a throw. WTF?!

Nothing new here. We need to get good enough to take their influence out of the game.

Move on. They are not going to get any better.

It was our game to win, but the umpires earned nothing but my wraith tonight.

Quick question - there was a moment (I think in the third) where Betts was leading for a mark near the boundary line, his opponent had to go full stretch to push him in the back to put him off the mark.

What part of the rules am I missing here? Is there a time when it is okay to push you opponent in the back in a marking contest?

Not being sarcastic, just really wondering if I am missing something as it was impossible to miss...

Uhhh.. free kick count was 24 to 21 Freo's way
hardly one sided, i thought it was an extremely consistently umpired game actually, great to watch

There are a few umpires that should be banned from umpiring games when there is an obvious lop-sided crowd, this is because their personalties are desirous of the cheers that follow when they call it the crowds way. The game then is then made about them. Unfortunately we drew two of them for the game tonight.
Can you just imagine if what happened tonight was served up to a Malthouse or a Sheedy, they would be prepared to take the pecuniary hit just achieve some fairness. If Ratts does, I am prepared to send my 50 bucks in the mail to him.

Yeah but at half time the free kick count was Freo - 18, Carlton - 9 .... The umps evened it up with a few softies in the third.

Partly agree, a lot of silly free kicks, but my issue is with the actual rules. Real slap in the face when a guy, eg. Kade Simpson dives over a bloke to try and get a lose ball (only possible way of getting there) and gets tackled as he picks the ball up, then gets stung for holding the ball. I know that rule was brought in to stop guys just diving on it, but sometimes it just has to be done.

Bower getting his head taken off twice in a row hurt; freo kicked a goal from that play. Couple of holding the balls i thought could have been paid, particularly the one where the guy was standing on the boundary line and was called to play on and was tackled and just dropped it.

anyway, could pick sh1t through the umpires in every game, was a great game and i really hope we get a shot at them next week.

mcPharlin pushed him fair square in the back, no replay either.

I don't know how many holding the balls weren't paid to us.

Wouldn't surprise me if AFL rigged the umpires so they wouldn't have 4 finals in Melb.

First quarter was just a joke. I thought that a 360 was holding the ball; let alone a bloody 720!

The AFL seem to dislike people wanting the ball. I always thought "protect the man with the ball as his objective" but it seems to now be "must make game faster!"

Also there was far too many times that people just dropped the ball (both sides) and/or ducked their heads to gain contact...
