For those who are interested I'll be reporting the goings on of the most significant suburban competition in Victoria, the Victorian Amateur Football Association.

Will Old Xaverians return to glory after a staggering run of premierships to 2001 in A grade?

After an even season last year in B Grade, will there be a standout side this year?

What former AFL stars will be playing for Amateur clubs this season? Over the years names like Craig Kelly and Tony Francis have popped up.

Stay tuned.

I'm a VAFA umpire, pazza, so my weekly reports on my website (see the "The Real thing has started" thread for the link) will follow a similar line - in the lower grades I assume. One also assumes that Kev will see me at least once - Fitzroy down in that area some where!! ;)

I think you and I have seen each other a fair bit in the past there timelord..unfortunately I'm not waving the flags this season (concentrating on uni way too much). How's the training going?

Wouldn't know. I only trained once lightly the other week running in a pair of inserts for my shoes after I had problems with my ankles and fluid running into them, and I've been interstate since March 17 (in Perth right now). I'll be back at Elsternwick Park on April 1 when Vinnie should have my shirt with the number I've been given - I hope I get a good one, and the right colour as well (I will be a little ****ed off if I get a yellow one).

Well, tell Vinnie from me that I hope he has a great season..can forsee the A Grade Grand Final for that boy in September:D

Will try and get to some of the games, but I hear that there is some consternation involving something like 20 teams and indemnity forms..these teams are set not to play round one at least (heard it yesterday)

Wonder how much of a say Dom and Bernie are going to have in that? ;)

Indemnity forms? I think they'll sort it out. I was worried about my accreditation as it had lapsed (I got Level 2 in 1994) but Brendan Carland was OK about it even though I couldn't go to the accreditation lectures because of my interstate trip. Probably effects the Club 18 more than anything else - and maybe the Under 19's.

Still, it's public liability gone mad - and I could go on for an eternity on that subject!!

Bring it on. Will you concentrate on the higher grades like A, and B, or will you report on all grades?

Absolutely.

Watch out for Old Haileybury, back in A Grade after a few years in B Grade. Brett O'Farrell (ex Hawthorn and Sydney) kicked 5 against Old Ivanhoe in the first game.

Our new recruit? Stewie Loewe. We also have recruited a kid by the name of Ditterich.

Go Bloods!!!

Interesting call, Richo. St.Marys only beat Westbourne by a goal - and Westbourne are up and down like yo-yos.

Mind you, I guess they are overdue for going back to the good old days of the late 70's early 80's when they became the first club in the old ESCFA to win three flags in a row. Only one other club did that in the Churches - and they made it four in a row. The mighty Donvale!! :)

I was hoping for someone to get that!

But we'll see. The air around the club is very good at the moment - a big preseason went in - and someone's gotta make the big calls ;)

That was Under 19 Section 2 Blue - and there were no umpires appointed for that grade or Section 2 White. The three main Under 19 grades got umpires (as I know!!)

That's how short we are for whistle blowers right now. And Brendan Carland reckoned tonight that I might get a solo job this weekend! Not in April, please????? ACK!!!

WTF???? Solo in April? That's just insane. Got a surprise call the other night from Bob Seymour and apart from myself, the younger goalies like Craig and Russell have also left. I hear Bob Dunstan is in hospital as well..hope he gets better. Apparently Bob was saying he's doing his 350th game in July (he's already asked me to come along!!!!). What happened to Laddy?

Haven't been paying too much attention to the goalies, Pazza - I've only noticed the regulars (Dom, Bernie, Chilli etc). I admit I haven't seen Laddy but then I haven't really looked.

Yeah, I agree about running solo in April!
