Pathetic use of the new icon system by some people.

Some people need to get a life and grow a dick as you're only acting like immature Moos.

**** you.
Triggys on holidays he has plenty of time to spend on big footy

Is anyone else sick of every media outlet showing pictures of either Tex's hyper-extension, Tex in pain on the ground holding his knee, or Tex getting helped off by the trainers? Every news station, AFL 360, the AFL website, etc are still flogging it. Makes me sick, can't get away from it...

It happens with all bad injuries, Nathan browns leg, tredrea's knee cap. The media love it

The Biggest Loser...

Irks me to no end when I see adverts for it and see the "contestants" on the show referring to the show as a "game". You are there to lose weight and improve your health, not partake in show politics. Money doesn't buy health, so stop "playing the game" and eat some salad once in a while instead of a whole tub of ice cream.

It's all about the drama, champ. If it was just about people exercising and losing weight it would last about one episode.

not if they made them run in slow motion every week - needs more humiliation

I have managed to avoid seeing the incident or the aftermath and I plan to keep it that way

Does anyone really believe that the current administrators of this game know what they're doing?

Think about the new sliding law, where they say they are suppose to be trying to avoid injury. Think about the new rules on hip and shoulders/bumps where they are trying to avoid head knocks.

Well, look at how players are now sliding in? You don't get done for going in head first. So players are going in head first. They are actually, with this new sliding rule encouraging players to go in head first, which is encouraging head knocks, which they are suppose to be trying to stop..

When will they make up there mind? its a shambles...

Almost every rule change they've introduced in the last ten years has made the game more dangerous, not less. They just don't seem to understand that makes a body part sacrosanct only encourages players to stick that body part in the line of fire, rather than protecting it. AFL footballers would rather risk suffering an injury than have their opposition win the ball.

The thing is, the sliding rule wouldn't even have been "necessary" if they hadn't started penalising players for going at the ball. In the past you could go for the ball, try to dish it out to a teammate, and if that proved impossible you'd hold it in and create a stoppage. Of course the AFL hates stoppages with a fiery passion so instead we needed to introduce a bunch of rules to penalise anyone that even looks like they might create a stoppage, whether it be someone diving onto a ball, a third man into a stoppage, someone accidentally allowing the ball to go out of bound, or whatever.

So what's the alternative? Players now sweat off the ball so they can lay a tackle on the ball carrier. For the first time in over 100 years of football, players will deliberately choose not to take possession of the ball. So the players who are taking possession of the ball will deliberately put their head in danger, or collapse their knees and shift their body weight to topple over dangerously. Other players will slide in with their arms on the other side of the opposition player so they can quickly dish off the ball without getting their arms trapped, which of course makes it completely impossible to see what your opponents legs are doing. And the c'oup de grace, where the AFL has decided to deliberately and overtly fatigue every single player by cutting down on interchanges so that they'll stop getting to as many contests, because less people around the contests means less repeat stoppages. Except in reality all it actually means is that we have exactly the same number of people at the contests, they're just stuffed. So us fans get to enjoy terrible skills from tired players, and the "true" footballer getting overlooked in favour of endurance athletes. And in the interim, the fatigued players are much more prone to injuries.

Honestly, if I was in charge of the AFLPA I'd have the AFL in court right now. They have not done due diligence on their rule changes, and they are dangerous. The AFL is solely responsible for the massive upturn in injuries we've seen as of late and it's only going to get worse as long as the current people in charge stay in those positions.

I watched bits and pieces of Collingwood V St Kilda last night. I played a lot of footy myself, did a tiny bit of umpiring and consider myself a student of the game. I used to be able to see the infringements and make the calls before the umps did and impressed my friends and I'd like to think I (accurately) called the ones the umps missed or shouldnt have paid. Last night almost everytime I made a call I got it wrong, I was often mystified, I would have called a lot of things the opposite way around. I admit I havent been watching a lot of AFL this season, but if the AFL want me to stop people from bagging the umps well its worked with me!!

I basically consider that so many of the rules have changed so much in such a short space of time I have no idea anymore how the game is supposed to be played or umpired. I guess that would stop me abusing the umps (yelling at tv) but I am not going to watch the crap served up now. All the wrong things are being rewarded. I'll watch the crows and that's it.

Umpiring is horrid, or the new AFL rules are pathetic. One of the other or both. Honestly bored of AFL now, bring back the rules from 10 years ago and leave it THE **** ALONE YOU DUMB SHIT KUNTS

People who can't count

There are 25 seats between staircases in my Bay. I am in seat 13. Why is there a constant stream of people crossing in front of me to get to their seat? At inopportune times. I'm fairly tall and we're sardined in. Is a pain in the ass.

Would it be too arseh*le-ish for me to leave a note on each seat in my row explaining the concept of maths and pointing out where their nearest staircase is?

Derwayne - Thats probably in the back... no... (sarcastic) mmmm okay. Guess the umpires are lucky its umpire appreciation week.

I cannot see for the life of me how this is commentating and not barracking.

Dwayne "If you've just joined us" Russell?

Says that line about 4 times a quarter. For the whole game

I don't get that. We had one dude who came down through seat 1 side (i'm in 6) to get to seat 25 or so. If he had of walked for 15 extra seconds he could have gotten to his seat in 10 and not annoyed 20 other people.

My biggest grip from today....parents who don't look after their own kids.

If you go to the footy and you take your children, make sure they SIT next to you.

Please don't expect society or others around you to do your parenting. Don't let them sit 5 rows in front of you, don't let them sit with their friends and then swear to each other and laugh at the Police walking past. Don't let then stand in the sears and make sure they bloody sit still.

Kids who can not sit still and then spoil my enjoyment, can get stuffed.

Maybe there were bigger taller people on the end of the row they didnt want to disturb ;)

How can people be leaving a match like yesterday at the halfway point of the last quarter? I travel (round trip) for 8 hours to see a match and there is no way I am missing a bit of it - win, lose or draw. For those who left then there was so much to do and see. It was a really high energy, crowd involved match. Five minutes to go the people next to me shuffle out and disturb others viewing. They missed Kerridge's mark, the crowd's appreciation of the consistent umpiring etc.
