It’s actually hilarious.

The ‘professional’ critics hate it however the actual fans of the books and games are loving it for the most part.

The Critics Must Be Crazy: ‘The Witcher’ Is A Fantastic New Netflix Original Series

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but critics really should watch the shows they write about before handing out a score.

It does serve to emphasise that it is important to find reviewers that have similar tastes to you. This guy for Forbes clearly like fantasy and video games, while a lot of the negative reviews from critics seem to be from ones that don't

Watched the first 2 episodes last night and it is great. Worrying I am going to binge watch it to quick and then be left to play the game again from the start!

Like mentioned earlier it was like playing the game and doing side quests so far!!

Cavil is excellent as Geralt and identical to his game character.

I’ve watched up to episode 5 so far. Sadly had to go to bed after I finished the 5th episode about half 11 last night, but I really am enjoying it.

There’s a few fantasy adaptations I’m looking forward to that are due to come out end of 2020 and/or in 2021 that I’m really excited about and The Witcher has given me faith that hopefully they’ll be done well. People seem to be taking the genre more seriously after GoT which I guess is something we have to thank GoT for whether you liked the show or not.

I’ll watch episode 6, 7 & 8 either tonight or tomorrow, depending on if I’m off to see SW:RoS tonight or not.

Jaskia his Polish name which translates to Buttercup In English.

This was then changed to Dandelion for the English translation of the books.

Just finished episode 5 and it has probably been my favourite so far.

The fact that it is much more linear and there is less jumping between characters/time lines makes it easier to watch/understand imo

I only ever watched the first 3 episodes of GoT so don’t know much about it, but I am constantly baffled by the comparisons to GoT. It’s very clearly different to GoT. But I guess they need to compare it to something and they’re at the very least the same genre.

Wasn't sold on Yennifer casting in the leadup but having just finished ep 3, nailed it!

Triss on the other hand...what in the actual **** were they thinking?

I don’t mind the GOT comparisons. Adult fantasy with a heavy political bent would be an accurate loose description for either.

Personally think they’ve targeted a younger demographic with the style here, not too dissimilar to The Magicians or ShadowHunters which I don’t think was the best choice but it’s still pretty good and of course HBO are the masters of television, so being better quality was always going to be tough.

Was worried this would be a badly acted bomb like so many Netflix series nowadays but the first two episodes were good to great. And I didn't even read the books or play the games.

Henry Cavill was an inspired choice for Geralt and the supporting cast are more than adequate so far after two episodes.

Cavill is great, show is highly enjoyable. Story is feeling a little jumbled (at ep 4) but hopefully it pulls together later in the season.

All the way up to ep 6 and really enjoying it. There are some GoT similarities, which I think that was inevitable, but hardly ruins it.

Cavill, as everyone else has already said, is perfect for the role. Getting a bit annoyed by the Bard though.

6 episodes in. Not really digging it. The books and even the game (Wild Hunt being the only one I played) were imbued with an emotion and a melancholy that's missing here. It's fine but nothing special, mostly a generic fantasy-action show with the Witcher skin stretched over tight and not much soul.
