41 points, a % above a hundred, and FOUR PREMIERSHIP POINTS is more than enough to bring a smile to my face.

$2.65 Virtually begged the North BF folk to have a go.

I thought it was rubbish. Hawthorn were so bad we should have won by 150. But we didn't.

I know Hawthorn can put up a fight and play gutsy, tight footy when necessary, but they didn't yesterday, and we were unable to capitalise. Silly turnovers and poor decision making stopped us from really burying them.

Albeit last week's 4pt loss to WC wasn't terrible on paper, it was just as frustrating because we made all the play, but let ourselves down with the same silly UNFORCED errors. Missing targets, not seeing leads, poor leading, etc...

So most people would be happy with a 4pt loss to the ladder leader and a 41pt win the following week, but to me the reality is we could have been much better both weeks.

I don't believe in bottom teams "dragging us down to their level" if they play anything but a disciplined and negative game plan. Hawthorn were all over the shop yesterday. Some of their mistakes you wouldn't attribute to blind amputees.

I'm just too greedy. I had that ticket (40+) marked out along with a few others but thought, heck, 5-7 goal lead at HT, then a few more in the second should get me over the 60+ line. Live & learn. Kick in the guts, I'll recover though. Still fustrating to watch anyway. I'm pleased JYD admitted it also and Hearts to Hearts & Darky summed it up nicely.

Well done Dingster, hope you nailed a grand or two.

The thing I was most impressed with from the game, and now verified by looking at the stats was the amount of marks in our back and forward halves. We were simply awesome in the Defensive 50, with the following players recording these mark stats.

Colbert - 9 marks
Archer - 9
Brown - 9
Makey - 9
Pratt - 4
Sinkers - 5
Watt - 4
Firrito - 5
Pratt - 4
Now obviously not all these marks were in the D50, but they are our core defenders. To have a total of 58 marks between our 9 defenders obviously shows they were working well. While Hawthorn did flood, it showed they had nothing up forward when our men got in the way.

Our forwards also were impressive

Rocca - 6 marks
Jones - 10
Thommo - 6
Petrie - 6

I don't know about you, but these are stats we have rarely see from the roos in the last few years. While we did not dominate the game, we did control it. We never looked like losing.

Statistics show they win by restricting the opposition, not by kicking large scores. I’d like to think we’ll see a more attacking style of footy this week from the NMFC.

Maybe in general, but they play fantastic, hard running and fast paced football at the Dome. If we take the foot off the pedal, they will bury us.
