It is all good and well to say we won by 40, that is the name of the game, but we are equal third on the ladder, we should be thinking about playing and winning finals.
What a disgraceful performance, playing against a side that at no stage wanted to win the game.
Our style of play is horrible and we will not win finals playing that way. And for those on this board who said we only brought our 'c' grade game, are kidding themselves. We need at all times to play a style of football that will win us finals. When we are under pressure in big games we will revert to the style we have played all season.
We always look sidewards, no better emphasised than in the final minute when someone had the ball 70 out and looked everywhere but forward which left Makepeace standing there for an eternity before they finally looked.
Our decision making and execution was deplorable. If we play like that against a good side we will be demolished. If we can't execute without pressure, how can we do it in the finals? Why possibly would Wells have the ball 70m from goal and then kick it back 40 metres? It defies logic
Why did we play with two loose men and occasionally Petrie as well. They should have pushed up to the wings or gone forward and manned up the Hawthorn loose men. There is not another side in the top 8 that would flood against Hawthorn. We try hard not to lose games as opposed to winning them!
Sinclair is a prime culprit, stops and walks backwards whenever he marks it and then always kicks it sideways.
Simpson has to man up on someone, he runs around by himself, gets the ball and then turns it over.
Stevens can't play, end of story
Today was equal with geelong as our worst game of the year. We need to start playing a 'finals' brand of footy, just as Sydney have done over the last 5 weeks.
We do not get respect, because we don't deserve it. You don;t get respect playing keepings off against the worst side in the competition. Look at the way St kilda (70pts), Geelong (80pts) and Adelaide(75pts) took care of business this week, that is why we are not considered in their league.
