There's gold in The Sack, I know it!

Seems today Collingwood finally placed Goldsack where he belongs, on the ball, and he had a large impact on the last quarter comeback that related in the win in the VFL.

He has pace, fair foot skill when he is confident, but for god's sake, he will never make an AFL key defender, he doesnt have the balls for it.

He loves getting the ball and running, we have to give him more time around the middle at VFL level and see what he develops into.

I can see him playing a Ryan Lonie circa 2002/03 role, running hard off half back.

WTF? balls? that is the least of his issues in being a KPD

being lanky and not having a body that will fill out thats an issue
being loose in key roles thats an issue
balls, hardness, tackling, presence thats not an issue

fair footskill is over exaggerating as well, he will never ever be a lonie like wingner, maxwell like tagger/midfield patroller possibly lonie no different players

Great depth player.

Very flexibe too. Can play anywhere in both a defensive role and an attacking role.

Great on a wing.

Agree wholeheartedly.

Goldsack is certainly in our best 25 and can quite possibly be in our best 18/22.

He is very flexible and can play tall or small in defence/attack and on ball.

He is tough, strong overhead, rebounds very hard and a terrific competitor. People who righting him off seem to forget the massive jobs he has done for us both tall and small. He is still very young.

Is off the boil this year a little but once he gets his consistency back he will be straight back into the senior side.

There is definitely plenty of Gold left in the Sack.

I wasnt really having a go at him, you are probably right in that his build holds him back from being a real "tough" player.

As for the Lonie comparison, it's probably close, just without the astounding foot skills.

He just looks so much better when he plays an attacking role versus when he plays a defensive role.

I cant see him making the AFL level as a defender, but I can as an attacking half back or wing man.

Good call Matty123. He played ruck in the juniors.
