1. That patience REALLY IS a virtue

2. All things REALLY DO come to those who wait

3. That playing drinking games where you skol every time Geelong kicks a goal was once manageable but is now a dangerous past-time

1) That no lead under sixty points is safe

2) That the most surefire way for Steve Johnson to kick a goal is for him to be running away from goal, fifty metres out, hugging the line

3) To never, ever claim "it's over"

1) after the retirement of Gary Snr the ability to kick goals shouldn't be left up to the likes of Spinks, Mench, KK etc but rather an awersome midfield and even forward line.

2) We should try and pickup at least 1 mature rookie every year EG: Ego, Stokes, Taylor.

3) the father son rule rocks.

Especially against Richmond, umm who do we play this week? :D

1. Keep the ex-players drinking the local milk, water or whatever it is that keeps their wives popping out strapping lads for our father and son picks.

2. That even now the fans still expect perfection everyweek.

3. To believe in our talent scouts, they are good.

4. It is definitely ok to have a man crush (and pay 5c to Commentti for the right to use the term 'man crush')

5. How absolutely amazing it is to support a group of guys that just did it for each other, made me a very proud supporter.

.

Def agree with that. Especially since we almost always finished 9th, 10th etc in the period when we werent so good. Hence didnt have the luxury of the no. 1 pick. On the other hand tho, we have had a good run with the Father/son rule. ;)

Things I have learnt? Patience... loyalty.. and a real sense of belonging. :):thumbsu:

I remember the guy who sat next to me at the Eagles game the week after was telling me he was in a corporate box for the Richmond game, and decided to have a bourbon and coke for every Geelong goal. He said he was absolutely tanked at half-time. :D

Back on topic...

1. Bottoming out is no guarantee to build a successful list. All you need is a good recruiting team with a sprinkling of father-son selections.

2. Moving the ball quickly beats foot speed everytime.

3. A good team is always greater than the sum of its parts.

4. Having 4-5 players chipping in with 3-4 goals a game beats having one player kicking 8 and the rest of the forward line doing SFA.

a good recruiting team can perform at a higher level, ie hawks v tigers
2. Moving the ball quickly beats foot speed everytime.
2 steps forwards, is superior to 2 steps back
3. A good team is always greater than the sum of its parts.
Together Everyone Achieves More

20 goals is superior to 8

sherlock is in

The father-son rule is great
With enough desire you can acheive anything
If it bleeds we can kill it
Sweat is the cologne of acheivement

I've learnt that even though I support Geelong not everyone else who supports Geelong agrees with me when it comes to certain players or ideas.

And I've learnt that that is OK.

Mature age recruits and non traditional football pathways produce amazing players if they are given the chance.

:thumbsu: I'll second (or third) that!!

1. That we will always have at least one spast, I mean, maligned player at our club -

David Mensch
David Clarke
Kent Kingsley
Shannon Byrnes
Mark Blake

2. That we have had the most talented group of red nuts to ever play the game -

Barry Stoneham
Scratcher Neal
Cameron Ling

Dont forget T "Bluey" M and Neville Bruns:)
