I don't understand people who dress like they are going to the snow on a mild winter's day. It's currently 18 and sunny and there are people getting around dressed head to toe like a Kathmandu mannequin. Do these people just curl up and die when it's actually cold?
About 5 years ago I went from a guy who would wear shorts and a t-shirt from 18 degrees onwards. Now I am rugged up most days even wearing thermal pants under my jeans inside my office. I ****ing freeze now for some reason. Oddly I don't feel worse in colder conditions (like when camping). I seem to either just be hot, comfortable, or freezing these days with nothing much in-between. No reason why, just woke up cold one day.

fashion. they see winter clothes and they wanna wear them.
like up here, people are rocking puffer vests cos its dropped from 25 to 20. granted most are probably victorians who moved here and just have all their winter stuff still.

Your internal thermostat changes as you grow older.

When I first moved to Qld in 2012 the first winter I was still wearing a polo and shorts to work, whereas my local colleagues were all rugged up. They would say to me, "Aren't you cold?" Took me a few years to really feel cold in winter here and start rugging up too.

Temperature is fascinating. Was in Billy rays territory a few weeks ago. Think it got to 20 or maybe 18. But I did feel chilly especially near the water.
Was in Thredbo last July. Was 2 degrees but blue sky and i was in Tshirt at a cafe

LOL at people talking about the cold. You all don't have a clue what cold really is. ☃️
I lived in Moscow for 4 years. I think I do.

-20° and they're selling ice cream on the streets.

But actually there is something strangely nice about eating ice cream when it's that cold.

People in actual cold climates must read this and laugh. First sign of snow and twenty people have to be rescued.

Probably our equivalent of UK "heatwaves" and watching tourists drown on Bondi Rescue. People seem to panic over here when it's 40 in summer and 0 in winter, which happens every single year and always has.

First time in Europe as a (young) adult I was shocked to see how many life buoys there were along the river in Kilkenny which is no wider or faster flowing than the Yarra. Growing up here you just take for granted that everyone knows how to swim from a young age.

Drownings in Australian waterways feature a high proportion of tourists and immigrants 😟

Not surprised. This whole continent is a death trap.
As if the spiders, snakes, sharks and crocodiles weren’t enough. Along with floods and fires and fossil fuels. Day-to-day survival in Australia is indeed a miracle 😟

I remember when living in England, they would warn me not to get cocky and an English heat is 'different' to an Aussie heat. It's not, they were melting at 30 degrees and I was comfortable.

Being stuck in a crowded tube carriage wasn't too pleasant in London when it got to 30 degrees but the heat there is still mild compared to the 40 degree heat we get here.

Being stuck in a crowded London tube carriage on your birthday on a freezing cold winters day during a bomb threat for 4 hours after working all day can GAGF .
