It's funny you know... I really don't remember Clay standing out as being particularly negative when he was called gravy.

I think some pessimistic alien body snatcher took control of his mind around the same time he changed his name. It's the only logical conclusion.

Anyway, the negative posters here add a bit of colour to the board. The articulate ones like Clay who back up their arguments do anyway - not the frothing at the mouth types who write like they're banging their heads against their keyboards. And while I don't often agree with them they do have a point every now and then, even if they usually take it too far.

Having come from the other Dockers site which is just a "toe the line or you're deleted'' suckfest, I much prefer this board. The opinions of others are sometimes different to mine but at least people can put them out there without the mod ridiculing you along with his cronies and/or deleting you.
FWIW though on topic, the team is horribly undermanned and should we win the next two, rest up during the bye and get a few bodies up and about then a wet sail finish like 2006 is on the cards..

Think of this place like parliment. The negative nellies get most of the limelight... it's not like we are debating athiesm v religion or which is the best Police Academy movie. I can see that the overbearing insistance of some posters to address nearly everyone's else's posts with sanctimonious sermons can take the fun away. Still, the facts laid out with evidence is better than sticking your head in the ground and thinking everything is fine.

I agree with the OP, but open opinions on our team is what makes this site what it is. Conflict raises issues, but also gets them resolved instead of putting your head in the sand on poor performances, players dont accept it , coaches don't accept it and supporters shouldn't accept it. You need all types, but one common thing is the passion for this club or GTFO.
p.s I'm a convert , im far from controversial and was deleted one too many times from the other site for "not towing the line" and havent been back since.

Good on the OP.

I read that all the OP was suggesting was that we have a bit of perspective and not act like a bunch of Italian soccer supporters calling for heads.

Geelong had a massive internal review two years before challenging for a premiership because they didn't back up after a good season the year before. Just saying things can turn around pretty quickly.

So, if I'm not mistaken you come to this place to have a say?

Looks like you're getting it.
If this place is not the way you want it, there's one very obvious mechanism to change it.
Contribute...contribute, and contribute again.
But personally, I'll be buggered if I'm going to delete or edit posts just because some people don't like the content. Clay and Gordon can contribute how they like. Others are free to do so too.
Trolls get booted as the mod team see fit.
There's 4 of us. We've been here a long time, and know the lay of the land.

While I hate this sort of comment, if you really want a board where it's all sunshine and light, you all know where that place is.
There's nothing stopping you going there...but a great proportion of you came here from there why??? Because it's a place of mates, in jokes and circle jerks where the "moderators" delete posts and edit them whenever they "don't like it".

/Rant.

PS Post more you slack wallies :)

I'm not sure if this is directed at me, but i've never registered or posted on dockerland so that isn't where i'm going with the OP. To be perfectly honest I do use another forum more than bf, the new one set up a couple of months ago, but I like to hang around here for freo discussion :) I've always been more of a lurker than a frequent poster, but i've started to browse this board a bit more often of late - partly maybe due to exams finishing.

I have no dramas with people pointing out the flaws in our team/club - lets face it we have a right to be pretty unhappy with some of the performances this year. It just shits me when every thread you see the same group of posters bring up that we're a soft club to the core and we will never be successful etc - surely you know what I mean. Realism is great, a bit of cynicism or even pessimism is fine, but we don't need to be going into downright despair and bemoaning the state of our club and team for the next few years. We have a lot to be optimistic about looking at our list yet the negativity around here seems to outweigh any positive input.

p.s. I also wasn't calling for you to delete any posts - everyone should have their say. It'd just be a more enjoyable board if the scales were tipped a little more to the positive side at the moment :)

See this is the thing. If you support the team surely you should, you know, support them. It's just that some people appear like they don't even support Freo given the extent to which they take their negativity. Anyway no more ranting from me

Pretty much right haha :D

Good post as a whole actually.

The thing that puts me off this site a little is the incessant opinions that keep coming up, usually negative, some people cannot say what they think and then leave it, some issues come up on just about every thread repeatedly, over and over. It just get so bloody frustrating I just need a week or so away from it.

But I usually come back because there are some people on here that give valuable input that I find interesting.

I see it as being similar to the difference between a social worker and a psychologist. The social worker see the things the way they wish they were and the psychologist sees things as they really are. Generally. Depends on how you want to look at things.

I don't mind different opinions and ideas from different points of view, I have often come on here with a particular point of view and changed it as I have listened to others, but what is frustrating is when people come on with an agenda and keep pushing it and pushing it, and are obviously not interested in listening to anyone else they just want to be patted on the head and told they are right.

I just hope next year if all goes to plan and we start climbing the ladder, becoming one of the strongest teams in the comp. that there is plenty of humble pie ready for people giving the club sh#t at the moment to eat.

I agree. Many people only listen to things that support their already formed opinions and totally ignore anything else that disproves it.
