I like the squad for today's game. IMO the selectors are moving in the right direction.
Staker at FF - good move as he has good hands / sticky fingers and is quite capable of pulling in 6 or 7 marks there; if he can convert those into goals we'll have ourselves a FF.
Selwood - good runner / midfielder / tagger with lots of guts and hard at it. This is just what we need; he is a good addition and needs to be given a long run in the top 22.
Jones - I've been calling for his elevation for a while. Quick, tall and hard at it - can play at both ends - he is exactly what we need, and again needs to be given time in the 22. He could even take a turn at FF in the mould of a Hamill.
Gaspar in his true position at CHF - he'll get better with hardened fitness.
Butler - like Selwood - I'm happy to have him in the top 22. He will be a very good player and will add further run. I believe he's an emergency today, but I'd like to see him on the park.

I hope the boys have a good game today - IMO they can turn it around, but even if they don't, we are making the right selection moves.

Team selection wasnt too bad this week. Still short a tall IMO and bringing Adkins for the late Fletcher was a shocker. I thought early in the year we had a winner with Adkins but now its obvious he just isnt good enough.

Gotta agree on both counts jod.

Adkins was terrible today, his kicking was woeful and just made clanger after clanger. Poor choice to replace Fletch.

The coaches are determined to play no more than 6 talls!!! Most other teams (and certainly the top ones) play at least 7, sometimes 8 talls, yet we will not go over 6! ie, Mcdougall, Gaspar, Cox, Glass, Jakovich, Staker. Even though Hunter is close he doesnt really classify as a tall - we should have kept Seaby in to give us another option in the ruck and up forward.

Anyway we just werent good enough, and didnt have the desire that Melb did today. Very disappointing second half after they at least fought it out in the first.......depression sets in yet again
