By the way you_idiot, i'd consider dropping the (Frustrated Cats barracker) phrase if i was you. Dosn't seem that frustrating anymore even though the opposition has been ordinary.

I think we were all shocked by the final scoreline, in a good way.

True story-- we got back to our flat after having Sunday lunch with her parents (yeah, I know the game was on, but sometimes you have to do what is the right thing in the bigger picture). Anyways, I digress... We get back into the house, and while she's in the loo, I turn on the TV and it's right after halftime, and they're leading by close to ten goals.

I let out this huge scream of utter delight for my team, and Jen came running back into the lounge room-- she reacted like someone had died!

"What happened?" she said in her fright of horrors.

"Look at the TV, dear-- our Cats are winning by a large margin, again!" I replied with excitement.

(OK, that response of mine was paraphrased. More like it, I said, "The Cats are kicking some Freo Docker a$$"-- and the Freo fans can excuse me for my spontaneous outburst of exhuberance.)

Still can't believe what has happened. It'll take a couple of days to come down from this, for sure.

Cheers,
William

Yes surprised by the winning margin, but more surprised at the class of our youngsters..
Everyone was thinking Geelong would be heading to the bottom of the ladder this year especially when Hocking and Murphy left, I had my doubts as well, but the youngsters we drafted in the past few years and this year a great even Ablett I thought might have been drafted cause of the name but the kid can actually play and play extra well, Bartell well he just looks the goods and could be leading our best and fairest, Rooke looks a classy player and Chambelrs looks good as well, then theirs Ling, Clarke, Corey, Enright and so on who have all taken the next step. Not to mention players who have not had a game yet who have played in our reserves and have had winning margins better than our seniors.
All in all I would say that we are not going to be the easy beats everyone thought but we will still struggle against top sides until these youngsters get a year or so under their belts but then look out.

I think the key here is that the young players-- and Ablett Jr. as a key example-- are mature beyond what their tender years may suggest. Thompson and company have let them mature at their pace, and not a pace mandated by the club, and this patience has paid off.

I said it in the preseason-- if you think this crop of youngsters and the team as a whole is good now, it'll be downright scary for the opposition in five years' time.

Cheers,
William
