Butler could play for us next year and is still only 18. A player picked at 28 can be a bust. Butler is safer bet than pick 28 ;)

thats the sticking point. we know that and so do the crows. butler would be top 10 in this draft if availabe this year. in essence u are getting 2 first round picks.

I would rather Butler and pick 12.

We are likely to get Thompson in a separate deal so at the end of the trade week we potentially could have Butler, Thompson and still have picks 8, 12 and possibly 24 to use in the draft.

Yeah, I know, there's no doubt Butler would be a safer bet than pick 28. Woz' just trying to be mischievous and fire up theorangeapple! :D

In all honesty do you think WC would give up Butler and pick 12 in the end?????

Putting the emotion aside and all that jazz, do you think there is a chance of Adelaide getting what they want.

Personally, I think there is a fair chance but it might have to go down to the wire (final hour of the trade week)

Surely if we got pick 12 we would need to use that on Thompson. What else could we possibly give to Melbourne?

I think it will be player for player trade in the final hour of the trade week. I don't think we will give pick 12 unless we REALLY have to and I don't think we will be forced into the corner.

Thompson's a great player but we shouldn't give up pick 12 (which we are likely to get) for him. Give them Ladhams/Bode perhaps and/or a 2nd round pick.

SEN has said the deal has been done in principle.

Crows get Thompson and pick 28 (Or something lower depending on what WCE get from other trades)
WCE get Stenglein
Dees get pick 12

Not that I don't believe you, but where is the official announcement on this trade? I have been checking the AFL web site constantly, and keeps coming up with ZIP!! ( Not that suprising )

Sheesh, bout time.

All good I guess- Callum Chambers and Chad Morrison are both wanting to head east and have attracted interest- if we can grab a 2nd rounder from the likes of essendon or collingwood for either/each of those, then this deal will look reasonably palatable from WC's perspective.

First rounder + 2nd rounder, and we'll still have some draft presence before taking Mitch Morton F/S in the third round.

The AFC cannot accept this deal. We have to keep the pick 12, but trade pick 28 for Scott Thompson.

Adelaide gets Pick 12 and Scott Thompson

WCE get Stenglein

Melbourne get WCE pick 28

swap pick 12 ans 28 around and it looks good for the AFC other wise the club is getting bent over the preverbal

We are giving the Dee’s pick 12 for Scott Thompson. Iam not happy with that deal

Stenglein for pick 12 and Thompson (pick 28 to Melbourne) is acceptable but not if we have to give up pick 12 and keep 28 for ourself

I got mixed emotions about this trade.

In all honesty the deal is reasonable BUT I don't like the fact that we have given into all this too easily. We had the oppotunity to really stand our ground and do a Port Adelaide if neccessarily but once again we have given in under pressure.

AFC grow a penis for god's sake

Here, here.... so we are swapping a first round draft pick for Thompson, although he has potential that's a huge risk. The AFC obviously haven't learned anything from the Bode/Pick 12 failure.

I like you wish they would be tougher but not to the extreme Port go. I have a feeling Carr maybe staying with the PAFC because of their over the top demands. Which could come back to bite them if Schamm or Pav want to return home, good for us I would have thought. Freo would be in the box seat for a bit of payback.

In all honesty Thompson is worth around pick 12 because the boy can play and will most likely develop into a better player than Stenglein BUT thats not the point why I am not all that happy about this.

Pick 12 for Thompson is a fair trade BUT I am sure that if we held out until the final hour of the trade week we could have got him for a 2nd round draft pick

Particularly considering Port's apparent lack of interest.

Then again, maybe the Crows got scared at the though of Port getting #11 from Freo and trumping them for Thompson.

I agree Stiffy that #12 is fair for Thompson, but considering our low ladder position & his homesickness along with a lack of real interest from Port, we should have done a better deal. Our 2nd rounder - #24 should have been enough.
