Positives

- We can fall no lower than fourth at the end of this round.

- We'll be fired up next week.

- Roo was back to his best form.

- For three quarters we were easily the most dominant side.

- Old firm of Goodwin, Edwards and Roo all played well.

Negatives

- Players like Hudson, Mattner, Skipworth and Reilly all went missing when the going got tough in the third quarter. That is the diffrence between a good player and a great player the ability to play well when things aren't going your way.

- Perrie's ball handling was disgraceful and along with Hentshel and Welsh the Adelaide forward line never looked dangerous.

- We can't enjoy another week of the Crows winning and Port losing.

- We really missed Shirley as West absolutely killed us.

Overall hopefully we bounce back next week at home and come back fired up and beat the currently undefeated Roos.

I think the scoreline says it all. We played the game on their terms.

No midfield accountability whatsoever. And they completely killed us with their run through the middle.

Perrie really needs to hold more marks because he's an absolute liability when the ball spills to the floor.

And Rutten got a touch up, probably the first of his career. Darcy was simply unstoppable at full forward. But again its also the midfield thats to blame, we gave them all the time and space to provide pinpoint delivery.

And to think at 5pm today I was looking to next week's game against the Roos as a top of the table clash. :(

Ball handling skills were pretty ordinary all night.

Edwards, Welsh and Johncock seem to have gotten into the habit of playing for the holding the man freekick instead of just going hard at the ball.

McCleod's miss from a couple of metres out in the third really hurt, was the turning point imo.

Just got absolutely smashed out of the middle most of the night.

Sadly the backbone group just didn't stand up this week and it was left to the same old names.

Kenny looked totally out of it, didn't look anywhere near 100% fit.

I don't mean to crucify the big Pez Dispenser, but take out his last quarter against the Pies and the Swans and he really hasn't given us much at all.

It's alright to boot a goal here and there, but if you can't consistently provide a contest when you're the prime target you're not much good to anyone.

Too many times he led to the ball but couldn't one grab it or as you said, was removed from the equation altogether as soon as the ball dropped below his knees. If you can't take the mark, at least make an effort to hold the ball or your opponent up. Rarely if ever did this happen and the Dogs got great rebound as a result.

.

We were terrible right across the ground in the third. I was watching Darcy carve us up, while Sarge and Welshy struggled and thought...why don't we throw a ruckman up forward? I would really like to see Huddo up forward one out in the square.

I 've seen Huddo take strong marks in the middle and in defence yet he is never tried up forward. He might not have the pace of Biglands but he's a better mark and isnt pushed off the ball as easily.

Well done to the Dogs they were far more committed than the Crows tonight.

Lads - I know u reckon me being a Port supporter il bag your side etc but a neutral view often is helpful

Score definately flattered the Doggies. It was really only the third term that killed you. Very impressive first half. You would be disapointed but should not be disheartened. Reason being it takes time for kids such as reilly, mattner, skippy etc to be able to consistently perform...

You have a very good chance of beating the roos next week..

I tell u what do u fellas find Welsh at all frustrating? Its obvious how much talent the bloke has but sometimes he just doesnt seem to put in.. Just an observation from tonight...

Darcy won the game -- u had no one to go with him in the third term. Altho after he kicked 2 you woulda expected Craigy to try someone else - but i spose u didnt really have another option..

I am really angry with our second half tonight, i don't mind a loss if i can see the players and coaching staff have given their all, tonight we were smashed in the second half, didnt capitalise on the advantage we had in the first half.

Too many players once again were soft and pulled out of a contest. We (the board collectively) have bagged Skippy, Dogga et al for insipid, lazy, soft performances. But tonight i would like to know where our so called leaders were...

Roo showed some form for the most part, Goody was great in the first half, Edwards was his usual self.... but Mcleod is without a doubt soft and lazy, perhaps him pulling a couple of goals or tackles or disposals each week out of his arse removes him from scruitiny? Craig was too slow to respond, Darcy had a party in the forward line, Minson dominated round the ground.... and gia was the clearance king tonight and not one person least of all his direct opponent Mcloed even picked him up to make him fight for them.

I am just so mad i know we are better than this and expected the loss this week... just expected an effort to be proud of to go with that loss.

YES!!

His arrogance is really starting to ******** me! Send him to the SANFL for a few weeks just so he can learn that he's indespensible. Next week i'd be prepared to drop Perrie, Welsh and Hentshel and instead play the two Stevens and Jericho!

I had a feeling of this, it seems not to matter what players are in the team the crows have this annoying history of always losing these types of games where we go in as strong favourites away from AAMI against a team that we should beat, do well initially we get significantly overrun in either the second or third quarter and then just stick with them for the rest of the game.

I am so ********ed at the moment.

That third quarter was the most pathetic quarter of football since the game against brisbane last year, absolute disgrace !!!!!!!!!!

Thanks AW

Funny thing is if Welsh was standing next to Tredrea he would be so dangerous..he is always asked to fight above his weight..and with Perrie not presenting and taking the pressure of Welsh it makes Welshes job harder.

I also hate how Welsh will play the free and not the whistle...keep chasing the ball Scott.

Bit tuff on Hentschell - he does look a wee bit laconic sometimes - U just want him to get angry or something coz he has talent

Oh don't mind me, I'm just looking for scapegoats!

Hentshel does not deserved to be dropped but if I were coaching every game i'd start him in defence and let him work his way into the game than throw him up forward. All the games where he's played well in the forward line he seems to of played in defence for a while first.

McLeod had the worst games I've ever seen him play live. In the 3rd quarter, should've handballed to Hentschel who was alone in the goal score but went for goal from an acute angle. He had no accountability for his opponent, I think Gilbee got off him a few times and scored a couple of easy goals. I think AJ needs to stick into him again so he can lift his game. :P

We got absolutely killed in the centre clearances in the 2nd half by West especially.

Only positive was Van Berlo, he looked pretty good when he came on and took a gutsy mark in defense from what I remember.

Just to digress a bit, and you guys are clever :) Was McGregor completely fit, and what happened to Bassett i thought he wasnt going so bad.
5AA reckons Bass got a soft tissure injury. Hammy or something.

I don't think McGregor has been himself this year. Apart from the Port game he has been pretty average.

Yep my thoughts too - but the delivery to Perrie etc was poor.

But I'd say we can bounce back and give the 'Roos a fright next week.

Yep K Mac was pretty ordinary and has been all year except for the Showdown - I think he is not 100% fit because he is much better than that.

I think Bassett was pretty good when he was on - he seemed to venture forward a fair bit too!

Delivery to Perrie was poor?

He was given every chance to kick a small bag tonight - if he could take a mark out in front he'd have finished with 4 or 5.

I agree.

I don't think the delivery to the forwards has been too bad. We certainly had some good chances.

Perrie really hasn't been all that good for us this year. I would just like to see him re-produce his 2003 form. Sure he kicks a goal here and there but he drop a lot more marks than he used to.

They had 2 guys on him most of the night! I don't think delivery was that bad, it was just that we could barely get it down there in the 2nd half.

I'm really confused about Thompson being on the bench for so long?? He's not lacking fitness or anything, so he should be in the middle at all times! Also I could not understand leave Rutten on Darcy for so long. Wouldn't it have been better to try Biglands or someone on him, at least for a bit?

Thompson is lacking fitness and thats why he is being used sparingly. He hasn't really had a good pre-season because of shin splints and is behing the 8 ball as far as fitness is concerned.

Having said that, he also had a game to forget. Did a couple of nice things but overall he was disappointing as was most of our midfield.

I agree he missed some he could have taken - among others - but I felt he needed to get down to a few low balls -which we all know is mission impossible. Perhaps I should say it wasnt spot on - need to see the replay [Ugh!!] but that was my perception.
