Thought he was really good last night, conditions and opposition probably suited him a bit but he was clean, busy and accurate around goals.

Something which has been missing in Melbourne teams for a while now is one of those little runts that opposition fans hate (Milne/Ballantyne/Blair types), but is effective around goals.

Could Maric be the man? Or is he treading water? If the season ended today, would you give him a new contract or cut your losses with him?

To be fair the next couple of months will probably tell the tale, I'd give him a prolonged stint in the senior side to see if he has what it takes. I have a sneaky suspicion he does. Not sure if Bails feels the same way.

Yeah I agree, he did well last night. I still have hope that he will be a regular in the team, he certainly has the skill set to do it. Give him the rest of the year in the team, let's see what he can do.

Anyone who saw him play during the pre-season knows that he has the goods.

Clearly he CAN be in the best 22 but he needs to work hard to be in it. Bailey obviously loves our forwards to put on defensive pressure as well as hit the scoreboard and so far Maric is doing one or the other but not both. Last night he did both and you see how damaging he can be.

If Morton can be given 4+ games in a row, Maric deserves the same if not more. Seemed to just get booted out of the team when we had a loss, even when he was far from worst on ground.

Comrade SS - I agree. He looks like a little shit and that is fine by me.

At the start of the year I thought he hadn't quite turned a corner but was at least approaching it. He then dropped off a bit and was dropped almost immediately, whilst others get much more of a free ride (I'm looking at you Cale Morton and Jamie Bennell).

He has more promise as a small forward than Jamie Bennell. If Maric learned how to tackle consistently, he would become even more dangerous. His goal awareness is already quite good.

Keeping him in the side will inevitably lead to a major sponsorship from a world leading eyeliner brand too, or seller of gothic t-shirts labeling obscure death rock bands.

If the season ended today I'd re-sign him. Hasn't been in the worst 10 in any of the games I've seen him play either this year or last, pre- or proper-season, yet always gets the boot when someone returns from injury or if we have a bad loss.

Really is a great kick of the footy, just needs to be more consistant and improve the defensive part of his game.

Overrated downhill skier, last night changes nothing.

Kicked three against the Saints didnt he in the second half when the team was shit and gave him very little to work with but yeah down hill all the way......

Deserves a game next week and would love him to go the rest of the year if he doesnt play many more games i can see him leaving to a club that will....he is worth the punt by others
