TikTok has privacy concerns, and I can see the argument for short video formats negatively impacting kids attention spans, but the rest of this is total nonsense.
Like said earlier, the algorithm slowly determines what you want to see based on a lot of different metrics. What videos do you add to your liked collection? What videos do you send to your friends? What videos do you stick around and watch? What videos do you quickly skip through? What type of content have you searched for? The app itself is not just spewing out crazy far left propaganda as default, if people are seeing that it's because that's what they are interested in. You'll see crazy far right videos if that's more your interest. Are you advocating for complete censorship of political content?
Anyway, people overvalue how popular political content is so much. The most popular Tiktok videos by a mile are brain numbingly apolitical, neutral, lack of any substance s**t that nobody needs to use their brain for. Without logging into your account all you will see are funny cat videos, dancing, cute babies, sports trickshots, etc. You're not going to see a Karl Marx TikTok video unless maybe he's dancing next to some cute monkeys. Douyin's most popular stuff is the exact same, the only difference is the language of the song that they're dancing to.
