I presume this is the hardest part of online dating? It takes time to truly understand and build connections with people, but many seem willing to cut and run after a few interactions. For anyone looking for a life partner, you're not going to know after a few dates. ( unless they are totally nuts)
I guess the other aspect is the physical connection. Seems that sex is a big focus of dating apps. While it's an important part of any relationship, it's not something you can build a genuine relationship around.

I went to India for 5 weeks
I sent an email a few times and rang twice ...it cost more to send emails or ring than I was paying in rent a week

I just told the mrs that I'd be out of coverage in darkest Vietnam and not to worry unless she hadn't heard from me in 3-4 days. Coverage turned out to be flawless - Viet military means you get 5 bars no matter where you are in the mountains near the Chinese border - problem was keeping the phone charged as electricity was either intermittent or would be turned off completely overnight.

I uninstalled em after a couple of mentally draining incidents a few months ago. One girl who I got on with well (was in an open relationship at the time and things were casual but nice) who ended up going through a bit of a rough time, and wasn't sure how much to involve myself. Thankfully she's doing a lot better now, and we still keep in-touch.

But that was compounded by another girl I'd been seeing casually that started to put an unreasonable burden on me. Was murky waters for a while because she was clearly in a very vulnerable place, but it wasn't until I was talking to one of her closest friends who I explained the situation to, and they basically said from their POV she was emotionally manipulating me, and I was well within my rights to completely sever ties, that I basically stopped talking to her. Her friend is a total legend at least, and has actually stopped her from trying to hit me up on multiple occasions.

Now with the newly found burden of excessive free time, and having reached out to my ex for the first time in over a year and having more closure from that after we both apologised for a bunch of things and moved past any associated baggage, I'm back.
